Field Guide to Native Oak Species of Eastern North America
That is just out-of-control awesome.
I expect that this might just displace Dirr et al with the seat of honor near the old PC.
Thanks, Lucky. Look forward to news from you of the long-awaited Field Guide to Native Liquidambar Species of Eastern North America, especially the revered Christian County (KY) collection.
I knew that darn Guy would show up somewhere in an Oak manual--acknowledgements, page iii
Kevin, sometimes I suspect you're the agent the FBI assigned to shadow me . . . better ask them for a raise, you're doing such a thorough job!

Looks good, tho' I've found two nomenclatural errors already - the white oaks are given as "Quercus
subgenus Leucobalanus" – they're correctly Quercus section Quercus, as the group includes the type species of the genus, and they're usually only classified at sectional, rather than subgeneric rank. Also the red oaks, given as "Quercus subgenus Erythrobalanus", should be Quercus sect. Lobatae (an older name than Erythrobalanus)

i love it and i downloaded it.
I saved it to a disk.
I wrote and asked them to mail me one so I can take it to the woods with me. The lady wrote back about 15 minutes later saying it was in the mail!
The book arrived today! Wow! Spiral bound with a lovely thick cover and a ruler in the back to boot! Your tax dollars at work, and mine. I didn't even have to pay for mailing.
Definitely going into my hiking backpack!
YAY!

This is a *great* book! Thanks for letting me know!
Received my book today. Thanks for letting me know. Saw Guy's great photography in it, too.
