Well, I've got the camera figured out and now I've learned about bras and Walmart tripods. Next....
I called Dell and they told me my trusty little printer, a DeskJet 895Cse would not print good pictures because it only had 600x600 dpi resolution. Anyone have one of these and is this right? And if it is, anyone have a recommend in printers that will do excellent letters, color work and also photos?
Thanks in advance, Ruth
here's another one...
that's my husband's printer + it prints out great pix - even with regular ink. email me if you have questions.
Thanks, GrannyLois. I'll try it before I change.
If you do find that you need a new printer I have a Hewlett Packard DeskJet 952C. It prints letters, color works and pictures just great.Very clear and much faster than my old one.
I upload my pictures to photo sites which let me order just the prints I want. Here are some which specialize in this.
Shutterfly - http://www.shutterfly.com
Super prints. New members get 15 free 4x6" prints. I can get free prints if someone I refer signs up, so I'd appreciate your e-mailing me privately if you want to sign up with them, okay? :o)
OFoto - http://www.ofoto.com
I've used their film developing and was satisfied with the quality of the prints. They offer new members 25 free prints, too, and I can earn prints if you sign up. So, again...e-mail me, y'all?
Snapfish - http://www.snapfish.com
I've used their film developing, as well - they're very reasonable and provide great quality. I've used them for almost all my 35mm film and love their site.
Webshots - http://www.webshots.com
You get 5 free prints with them when you sign up. I just signed up with them, so I've not seen their prints. They also have photos you can download.
Hope that helps! :o) Kimberley

Kimberley, thanks for all the links. I'm so new to all of this, I haven't yet got the foggiest idea of how to upload shots, or send them here to DG or to my friends. Guess I have a lot to learn.
Thanks again, Ruth
I know that Ofoto has a nifty little utility of their own you run on your computer. It walks you through the process. They also have a pretty good help section. I had many of the same questions you do when I went digital - And I'm still learning! Have FUN!!! :o) Kimberley
Thanks, Kimberley. I'll check them all out, but ofoto sounds like perfect for a beginner.
Next thing you hear.....I mean see.....will be a photo, I hope!
Ruth
Better to take advice from people who own the equipment you're interested in, rather than take the word of a salesperson who might want you to buy the most exspensive model you can afford....

Thanks, Bucky. I did take advice from someone I "know". Dave here at DG. And he was right. The Fuji I got is the same as his, very inexpensive and takes great pix. (Checkout photos forum).
