When to plant?

Billerica, MA(Zone 6a)

Hi all,
I've never planted lilies before but got tempted by a bag at Home Depot and ended up buying them. They are trumpet, I think. Triumphator and Divine? I'll have to go out and check the bag again.
My ? is this. I'm in z6 and don't know if I should get them in the ground now or wait until mid/end of May after the last frost. Should I wait or plant now? I've got a great cutting bed that I'd like to put them in.
Thanks in advance!
LoraB.

Hi Lora, go right ahead and plant now ~ they can be planted anytime the ground isn't frozen. Be sure to share your pics when they bloom. :)

Yeah! I was hoping y'all would say that!

Devine is an LA (Longiforum-Asiatic cross). The trumpet look comes from the longiflorum side.

Triumphator is a LO (longiflorum - oriental cross).

LoraB,
This is my first year planting actual lily bulbs as well. I purchased about 6 different varieties. I planted mine mid April and they are almost all up and growing wonderfully! Can't wait till we can show our pics this summer. Good luck with yours!

Lilies are always growing, so getting them back in the ground is best. Good luck!

I did get them into the ground just after posting this thread and some of them already had thin, pale, very mallable stalks. I'm hoping I did the right thing by planting them with the stalks stretched upward close to the top. DO you think they will make it?
Tks,
Lora

Yes, they'll be fine and you did good. :)

Just an update
Thanks to great advice all of my lily bulbs that I purchased this year are now up thru the ground. I am so excited. Will they get to their normal height this year? What can I expect!

Thanks again
Michelle

Sometimes they're a little short the first year, then normal after that.
