I've been waiting several days for my cembra to open, but so far nothing...
Christina
Waiting and waiting...
KEWL. I see the rachis has bloomed a lot. Please keep the pics coming.
Looking good!! I can't wait to see your arnottiana bloom for you. That will be exciting.
Heather
Christina, beautiful close up pictures. Looking forward to see the blooms.
Debbie
Sounds like alot of your hoya have been hitting the floor Christina !!!!! There all gorgeous can't wait for the arnottiana either....
Tami, not that many... Simpson only (so far!) pushed 1 down and that was partly my own fault because I left a space empty next to it and he jumped up. Then when he saw me... The others fell because I had let them get too dry and one tipped and pulled 5 more with it down... only vitiensis was damaged. It's started to grow again so there's hope! Needless to say, I will NEVER let them get too dry again!

Christina:
Anything new about the arnottiana..? I'm as you eager as you are to see those flowers... =)
Here thomsonii just opened up - I could smell it before I saw it. They smell like daffodils!
Nope, just checked both of them. Still looking like they could burst any second!
I can't wait to see those blooms!!!
Hi Christina!
Still waiting...?
/Lotta
Time to break out the Messenger.......and take lessons on my camera.....The flowers are stunning Christina. The sneak peek of H. cembra is awesome! What a shot....
Susan
Christina - please don't ever stop posting your pictures - they're stunning - I look forward to seeing them! Karen
Wow, hoya heaven as usual. Do you have magic hoya dust sprinkled on your fingers???
Heather
Christina, curiosity has got me. Your English is so good that you even know American slang such as "sneak peek". Did you study abroad or is English taught as a second language in Sweden?
I noticed the same thing with Lotta who is now posting on the forum.
The only Swedish I have figured out is Tillbaka, meaning 'to go back', from reading(?) the Swedish hoya forums. Sad huh?
Heather, no I have no magic hoya dust on my fingers. I think it's all those years of TLC that is paying of right now. Last summer was a great hoya bloom year, but I think this one will be even "worse"!
Susan, if you had peaked at my website on the about me page you would have known that I have lived in Florida. Only one year (many years ago) but still! I've always loved languages and my oldest brother (who is 13 years older than me) started teaching me an English word here and there when I was around 6-7 years old. In Sweden we learn English as a second language from we are about 9 years old. We also have the advantage of A LOT of English spoken TV programs. Not like in Germany where they translate EVERYTING into German! Then there's one more thing: I have all of you here to "practise" on!!
I've also studied French and German, just to give you an idea HOW language crazy I am!
Thanks for the compliment!
Christina
Hi Susan,
Yes, in Sweden English is taught as a second language. When I was a kid we started to study English at the age of 10. I think they start even earlier nowadays. I use English sometimes in my work. I work as a secretary at a law firm so if my English sometimes is a bit formal, please forgive me =) I'm not very familiar with American slang - don't use that very much in our correspondence :)
And hey, Tillbaka, is a good start...
Lotta
So Lotta, should we start Swedish lessons? I tried it when I was new here at Daves, but I don't think they remember...
Edited to add the previous link with lessons: http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/535860/

Tack Christina

[I said - badly, I am sure - that someday I will learn to speak Swedish. Until that time I use the handy online translator. I also said that their hoyas were the most beautiful on earth. I ended with hugs, Ann]

Hi Ann!!
See, you CAN speak Swedish!!
Loved that =)
Took a snapshot before I'm off to work. Like Christina I'm waiting...I'm waiting for (among others) wallichii. Will take some time yet until they open up, but I think wallichii has rather nice buds.
Here in Sweden (at least where I live...) it seems like it's going to be a nice, sunny and warm spring day.
Have a nice day everyone!
Lotta
Christina,
A few Swedish lessons more and we'll have a Swedish speaking forum... =)

Hej Ann!
That was the cutest Swedish I've ever seen! Keep it up!
Lotta: Love the way the buds are hanging over the trellis.
Christina (STILL waiting for more to happen to the buds in cembra and arnottiana)
How stubborn can they be...?? They = cembra and arnottiana
/Lotta
now at work.... =)

Badly translated Swedish:
Den här wallichii buds utseende förtjusande. JAG kan icke vänta till se dem öppen. Tack själv för motstå min försöka till meddela i en språk olik än min. Jag vill stopp den här nonsens nu.
Ann
Probably just as bad English:
Those wallichii buds look adorable. I cannot wait to see them open. Thank you for withstanding my attempt to communicate in a language different than mine. I will stop this nonsense now.
Ann
Ann, the translater isn't that bad. It makes perfect sense what you want to say. Does it work the other way too?
FINALLY, the waiting seems to be over for cembra!! One flower has just opened, but I'm going to wait and see what happens during the afternoon. I could "sniff" it as soon as I came into the bedroom and that was just ONE flower!
To be continued...
Christina
Cembra is soooo pretty!! Pleeeeease, tell me what to do to make mine bloom!
The white and lime is so incredibly beautiful.
(I plan to visit Christina this summer and I will pick up some of that magic dust...) =)
