If any of you are from the area, I just wanted to let you know the sale is Sunday. The sale supports the gardens and there's always some rarities here and there. Just a few I noticed: Embothrium, Melaleuca, Cardiocrinum, Sorbus commixta, Araucaria, Grislinea, etc, etc. I'll be selling books for the VanDusen library and selling subtropicals (Bamboo, Gunnera, bananas, etc). Hope to see you there! :-)
VanDusen Botanical Gardens Plant Sale - Sunday
I'm so happy - got some new plants from the sale. Melaleuca squarrosa - a zone 8 Tasmanian shrub with neatly arranged leaves around the stems - about 4'. Billardiera longiflora - another Tasmanian vining shrub with purple berries. Azara microphylla variegata from New Zealand and lastly a Fuchsia regia with long slender leaves and hardy. I'm so happy to get some new propagation plants that are a bit interesting.
Good for you! Having just returned late yesterday from working the INPS sale (made about $10,000 this year), I know how gratifying it is to see our "special" plants find homes with knowledgeable people who truly appreciate the treasures they have found.
Today I'm in recovery mode -- no outside work for me!
