The dogwoods are outdoing themselves this year. Here is a photo or two.

In theory, I prefer my dogwoods white, but it's hard to argue with this.

And it theory I prefer my dogwoods single, but--again--it is hard to argue with this.

Where'd you find the double? Is it a named cultivar or something you just found by chance?

Wow, that is a gorgeous blue sky in the first photo. Truly awesome pics.

Hey Scott, where'd you find the double?

And I guess I should post a bragging pic too -- how many of you have seen this, in pink no less? This is in our collection, grown from seed I collected in the wild:

Groovy, Guy!

Illinois, IL(Zone 5b)

Know what it is? I suspect only a few of you (perhaps Growin or Resin) have ever seen one, and perhaps even they haven't seen it in pink. Click on it and examine it up close. I won't divulge the name for a while in case someone can guess it.

Guy, I think you messed something up when you planted those seeds. Those flowers are all wrong. Been hitting the colchicine a little hard lately?

Not that it is the same, but my neighbor just cut down his lovely Kousa dogwood growing just over the property line so I always got a great view of the flowers and tried some of the fruit. The rest of the dogwoods in the neighborhood are all in bloom so at least thats good.

Hint: I collected the seeds at about 7000 feet in the Sierra Madre Orientale of northeastern Mexico . . .

...when are seedlings available for odd-plant collectors???

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Kevin, pretend I'm Guy.

*deep voice* You can have seedlings when you give Terry (that would be terryr) that viburnum she wants so much! :o)

Illinois, IL(Zone 5b)

Kevin, I'm surprised at you! You were supposed to be one of those viburnum geeks! How'd you know this one? Did you cheat? And the question remains, has anyone ever seen a pink one before?

I guess seeds will be available as soon as this plant decides to be self-fertile and make some. TerryR is coming to visit soon -- maybe I'll send a few back with her to give you . . .

that terry r, she gets around...

Illinois, IL(Zone 5b)

She'll get a round if she tries to mess with my trees . . .

There's ole Scott showing off his white bloom photography again!

Neat blooms Guy! I would have never guessed what that was. Way cool!
