My sis gave me some of her canna lilies. There were some red ones that are really getting big already. And there is a gorgeous variegated that has green leaves with yellow stripes. Yesterday I had one open up that is really interesting. It looked at first like it was going to have solid yellow leaves. I thought it was sickly. Then later in the day, it opened up a little more and I could tell that it is yellow with a pale green variegation. Can't wait to see what the flower looks like...probably it will be yellow...and subsequent leaves will probably be green...or at least green with yellow. But this one leaf is really itneresting. Has anyone else ever had a canna with leaves that looked like this?
Odd Canna
How is it looking now?
It is a Bengal Tiger. They odd leaf didn't live too long...my guess is that without the green, it couldn't handle the direct Alabama sun.....but the other leaves have all been standard Bengal Tiger. It's too bad...it would have been an interesting plant...but it would probably nt have bloomed because it would have had to have been moved to the shade.
A pity with variegatd plants. I had an all-white spider-plant seedlings once. Short lived, of course...
Of course....it is too bad, but probably part of natural selection.
