That is so interesting...do you mean you planted that cone? Or what?
Not really!.....It takes Hard pines two growing seasons to produce a mature cone. The first season cones only attain the size of a marble, with the majority of growth happening the second year. When I say "Hard Pine" I'm referring , for our purposes, all of the native pines found in the eastern U. S. with the exception of the Eastern Whitepine(Pinus strobus) which is considered a "Soft Pine."
