I only have one shot of these leaves; but yet another fine hornbeam.

Oh, what the heck. Here's Carpinus coreana. Not the greatest picture, but still terrific foliage.

And just to keep you all from getting too comfortable, try to name this one. Hint: this is a trick question.

To help, here's another picture.

Ostrya?

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

Not Ostrya. Another hint: it's in the rose family.

Prunus triloba

Say...simply a Sorbus?

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

Oh, Viscous Vaseline, is getting close!

OK; if it's not Neviusia alabamensis, then I give up.

Sorbus alnifolia. This small tree has great hornbeam-like foliage, excellent sorbus-like flowers, awesome pinkish, bloomish fruit somwhat like a cross between crabapples and juniper cones, and good fall color. Best of all, it does well in the Midwest. The Cincinnati Zoo has been growing this tree without any of the many problems other sorbuses all succumb to around here.

Here's a new shot of Carpinus japonica foliage.

D-Bent,

VV nailed it. Unless there's another Sorbus with simple leaf structure?

Tonasket, WA(Zone 5a)

I have Sorbus alnifolia, guess I never looked closely enough at the foliage. I do like the tree , mine is about 8 or 10 years and quite vertical to about 10 or so feet.

I did buy Carpinus caroliniana, but haven't had time to get it planted, but did decide where I will put it.

Donna,
I haven't forgotten about your plant! All my time has been devoured by 8 hours at my regular job followed by 4 hour of flower show.

...and 4 hours of picture taking
