Well, about this time last year, I learned from this wonderful forum that tall garden phlox can be propagated with 4" cuttings. Early on this spring, I put about 15 in growing medium and covered the container with plastic, putting it under lights. Well, the first one has roots, so I pulled out rooting hormone which I hadn't used and innoculated all of them. Today I cut about 50 cuttings from my phlox and did the same thing, using rooting hormone. What great advice!
Now I have these lovely primula that I grew from seed last year. Is there any way to multiply primula other than seed or division? How quickly do they multiply? Of course, I will also save the seed of these beauties too.
primula japonica and others. plus success with phlox cutting
I have a beautiful variegated phlox I have been unable to propagate but I have used much shorter cuttings. I'll try the 4" with the rooting hormone and keep my fingers crossed. I've not seen this plant anywhere else - it has a pure white streak in the leaves - and it is really beautiful.
