very disappointed a DOG...

Roopville, GA(Zone 7b)

last night a neighbors 2 dogs from across the street were in our yard and i ran them off because they chased my cat up a tree. i guess they came back last night later on and i woke to my only white asiatic lilies that were full of buds broken and lying on the ground!!!!!! : ( they also broke some dianthus that has buds all over! i don't have dogs because we haven't been able to train one not to dig up my flowers and i hate that a neighbors dog did this!

How far down did the stem break? If it was broken down to the ground, you may have lost that bulb altogether. Was this your only stem of that variety? I would certainly let them know about it and request that they not allow the dogs to run freely. If that doesn't stop it, I'd call the police or whoever the authority is that tries to control stuff like that. No one should have to put up with damage to their property. If you do nothing, it will probably happen again.

It is was your only stem, I should have extras of New Wave this fall. Let me know.

it had 5 stems and 2 broke. the two that broke had 5 buds on each. i also found they broke my peony that had buds! this was my only asiatic lily! i have some orientals that thank goodness they didn't break.

I feel your pain Kelly and I'm sorry to hear about your lilies :( :( :( That sort of thing is so frustrating. A couple years ago our neighbors daughters dog trampled some of our daffodils and a hosta. And what made it worse is that the dogs owner is a gardener.........but she clearly didn't care about anyone elses garden........
