Bay area DG'ers...
I'm getting ready to move, and in the process I need to clear out my jungle of potted plants a bit. I have some friends coming over around noon/early afternoon on Saturday who are going to take some of them, but there are 3 of them and about 100 plants, so I'm pretty sure they won't take them all (they're not quite as nuts about plants as I am). So I'm planning to put whatever's left out in my driveway late Saturday and anyone who wants can come get them either Saturday late afternoon/evening or anytime Sunday. I'll post here as soon as the plants are out, and I'll also try to post a list of what's still available at that time. If you want to get a general idea of the types of plants that may be available, you can go look in my journal and look at the plants listed with location "patio" or "courtyard" and status "planted in container". I'm giving away probably about half of what's listed there, plus a few that probably didn't quite make it into the journal. If you think you might be interested, send me a d-mail and I'll send you my address sometime before Saturday, then you can decide to come or not once I post the list of plants.
Some caveats/ground rules:
--some of the plants are in need of a little TLC
--many of them are tropical in origin and will need winter protection, and some of them may not be really suited at all to our climate
--since I am very busy getting ready to move, I can't accomodate requests to know if a specific plant is available or to hold a specific plant for someone. I wish I could, but I really won't have time so it's strictly first come first serve and take your chances on whether the plant(s) you want are still available (this is the price you pay for free plants!)
--I don't have a ton of info available on how to care for some of them, so I recommend looking them up in Plant Files or doing a Google search if you have questions. Many of them have tags in them with the name of the place I bought them from, so you can always go to their websites too for information.
--I'm not sure if people who have signed up as members but aren't paid subscribers can see this post or have capability to send D-mail, but I will only feel comfortable providing my address to paid subscribers
I'd love to see at least some of these plants go to a good home rather than meeting an unhappy end in my yard waste container!
Liz

Edited to say--my friends did end up taking a fair number of plants, but there are definitely still some left. See the list below--I have put an X in front of ones I know they took, but just because something isn't X'd doesn't guarantee that it's still there because I'm sure I missed a few.
Here's the list of plants (my friends will probably take some--if I have time I'll edit this post later today after they're gone with what they've taken, but I'm not sure I'll have time). For those of you who were interested in them, feel free to come by anytime after 4 PM today. They'll be out all day tomorrow too and most likely Monday as well.
I'll be on here again late this afternoon or this evening, so if you see the list and decide you're interested feel free to d-mail me and I'll respond when I log on later.
Here goes...I have included links on some of them to the place I bought them from so you can see pics, etc. The ones from Annie's I couldn't link to the actual plant itself, but if you go to her website you can search for them. The * next to plants means things that I'm pretty sure would get by planted in a garden as long as you're not a lot farther inland than I am (vs kept in a container and protected a bit in the winter).
