Carrion Tree

Lakemont, GA(Zone 8a)

My photinia has been in full bloom the last 2-3 days. Have had to be very careful around it due to the millions of bees- I'm allergic.
This is the very first year I have noticed how horribly bad this plant smells- stinks to high heaven!!!

Anyone else think "red tips" reek?

What the heck is that tree doing in such close quarters? If it's covered in bees you are allergic to, and reeks when in bloom, I'd do a Paul Bunyon on it in no time flat.

Prairie,
When DH and I planted it, we had no idea about the bad smell- I have never heard that about the plant. Live and learn right? Now that it has established itself, it is shading tons of plants, so I'd hate to cut it down. It won't be in bloom forever, so I'll endure it for another week or so- LOL!

I would have to move to Antarctica to avoid bees- or do they have them there, too?

I surely don't know, LOL. Guess it just looks funny from here. ;-)

Yes, I also think red-tips reek.
But I'm not sure about the smell . . .
