This is NOT my favorite tree by a long shot, but I thought this looked kind of cool.

acer platanoides crimson king leaves and flowers
Scott, what a great photo. My Crimson King is still very tight buds. The warmest day we have had and only a couple 61 or 62 degrees, And the past three nights I have had to move my Wisteria bonsai inside so it didn't freeze, also the one hanging basket of annuals that i bought last week. My apricots have been thinned, I hope there are enough left so that I will have some to eat off the two trees.

I agree on both counts!

Now spray it with Roundup and get some shots of its slow death--that would make an ever better picture!
That's the tree we dug up out of our front yard a few weeks ago!
Hey! There's no pictures :(
It's really weird. Every picture I uploaded today is gone. They all were there, but now they're not. Is somebody trying to tell me something? We'll see if these two stay.
Scott
I know Dave was working on adding another server and said he was moving pictures. I alerted him last night that I wasn't seeing any of your pictures. I see them now! :o)
Very nice. I'm sure VV and Guy and whoever I gave a really good laugh to, would like for you to teach me the fine art of picture taking! Come by this weekend? Not too far of a drive for you, ya think?
What's the last picture of?
Terry
Better idea -- pack your camera and come down here. Even shorter drive! We have a Gazillion different trees blooming and leafing out and doing all sorts of photogenic things right now. Different ones are peaking every day.
I'm glad the server got back up -- I was worried something was goofed up on my PC at first.
Guy S.
Decumbent, you really took very interesting photos, even tho there was a problem posting them. Maples are great year around, at least most of them are.
I tried to take some pictures of my just leafing out Acers, but it has been so windy, it was difficult to get a good shot, Anyway here is a poor photo of Acer palmatum Okushimo.
Donna
Donna, you can solve that easily. First, do your shooting in early morning before the breeze picks up. But in the case of your current photo, wind was not the problem: you probably have your camera set to automatic and it's focusing on the background.
If you don't want to get into using manual settings (the best choice), try aiming at the ground at the exact distance from which you will take the photo of the tree, then depress the shutter button half way and hold it, then move to the tree and press it the rest of the way. But make sure the area of the ground you choose is about the same darkness as the tree, because unless you manually set your exposure the camera will read off the ground to set that also.
There are other considerations regarding composition, optical cropping, light direction and quality, depth of field, etc., but take one step at a time. You can do this!
Guy S.
Thanks Guy for your help. It is raining now so can't take pictures. Anyway I am too hungry to do much of anything. Started Tues. evening on clear only liquid diet in prep. for colonoscopy, which I had not had to do before. Went to Dr. yesterday for the procedure, after 15min. Dr. said couldn't continue because of diverticulitis scaring, and for me to go to local hosp. this morning at 8:30am for lower barium Xray. And to continue the clear liquid diet. Just as I was getting ready to go to hosp. they called to say one of the people necessary for this procedure could not get to hosp. before 11:00 am. So I am still at home and still hungry!! I know you are really glad, ha ha to read of my this weeks fun.
Donna
Donna, I hope your doing alright, and got something to eat by now.
Guy, I went thru the menu of my stone age digital. There doesn't appear to be a manual setting. The book is somewhere, but after 2 moves, I'm not real sure where. I guess you all have to just learn to accept my blurry pics! BTW, I would love to come down and see your spread. Hubby has Fri and Sat off, so let me know when is a good time? Just d-mail me or if you still have my email address, you can send it that way also. I think you're a whole lot busier than me at this time of year!
Terry
