Cercidiphyllum foliage

Is this not about the prettiest simple, unadulterated, green leaf you could ever imagine?

Scott - (Wiping drool from keyboard) This is my all-time favorite tree! Esp. in weeping form. Great pics. ;-)

That little brightly lit chunk at the left even makes it look like a smiling Pac-Man! (If you squint and use your imagination . . . )

Guyano!

I'm so glad you didn't say it reminded you of something perverted! I worry that you might have frightened Joulz off forever.

PG13,

Katsura just might be my favorite tree, as well, although that might depend on if the cherries are in bloom, or the crabs, or the dogwoods, or if the maples are in fall splendor. All those trees have their moments, and indeed rank near the top all year round, but there is just something about the katsura. I am fortunate in Cincinnati that the Spring Grove Arboretum has some great specimens, as does the city in many of the parks. Quite a few trees are into their second century.

I would esp. like to see some of these venerable specimens. All of the others have their moments, true, but none rival Katsura's graceful form. IMO.

PeeGee Hydrangea,

Unfortunately, this is not the greatest picture in the world, but it is of one of the Spring Grove centurions I photographed last week. I really need a person in the picture to show scale, because this trunk is massive!

This is a PeeGee hydrangea?

I was given one once, but no one at the time had ever heard of it. When I later learned it grows to massive proportions, I was glad I got rid of it. I don't have the room here in my little suburban yard for such a monster! But I did like the blooms, they hung on after they dried.

No, no, no! PrairieGirl, YOU are PeeGee! The picture is of a katsura! LOL. Literally, LOL. Sorry for the confusion.

Bite your tongue Snott!! I'm NOT PeeGee, that I know for a FACT, just ask my family, they are going through those Ch-ch-changes right along with me!

Wow, that's a relief. That big of a PeeGee hydrangea really blew my mind.

I've gotta go lie down now.
