How to help young apple trees ?

Electric City, WA(Zone 5a)

Thanks for any help you can give me. 18 months ago I planted 5 drawf apple trees, one to two inches in diameter, 3 different varieties. I planted them in the fall and the next spring they all had a few blossoms, not many, and two developed fruit which did not make it to maturity. None of the trees appeared to grow much over the next year, and this spring although I am seeing a few more blossoms beginning to emerge these trees overall just don't seemed to have grown at all. Is this normal? Any suggestions? I live in a part of Washington state that grows a lot of apples but I am a newcomer and have never grown apples before .... I'd love some advice !!

You might be better off posting this question in the fruit and nut trees forum. They have plenty of experts there.

I am certainly no expert but I do have a small hobby orchard here at home.

Please be specific and share exactly which dwarf apples you planted.

Where did you get your apple trees from?

It is not uncommon for little or no growth to occur particularly in the first few years based on my experience.

Please tell me more about your fruit trees. Where did you plant them, how much sun do they receive, how frequently are you watering them and how much water are you using. Are you using any fertilizer and if so what are you using.

Please also go out and look closely at your leaves, branches, and bark. Do you see any discoloration? Are there any abnormal growths on any of your branches or any where else? And what about your bark? Do you see anything that you wouldn't expect to see on bark? Please try your best to look for anything that might be out of the ordinary. If after closely examining your trees you notice anything that makes you uncomfortable, please share photos here in this thread.
