Is really;
Wrangler's Spanish Cavalier (6235) 05/20/1986 (W. Smith) Semidouble bright red-violet pansy/white-green edge. Variegated, longifolia, glossy. Large
Nice plants :))
You sure got a terrific selection ! I love my Ultra Violet Dusk with it's pretty girlie leaves and always blooming !
I really did have a good time. I have never been in a greenhouse of that type before. When I was younger I went to ones with just trees and stuff like that. But this whole greenhouse was nothing but AVs and some other gesniards. I wanted all of them but of course I could not get them all. I did get some nice ones I think. What I wanted mostly were the ones that were verigated since most of mine are plain. And they look so neat now. I gave them all a haircut and repotted them all and put wicks in all of them. So now if I do have to travel anywhere, at least they will be taken care of.
What is so funny is that I was thinking of ordering some things from Bluebird's, not even realizing that they were only 30 miles from me. When I read that I was so happy. The lady that waited on me was named Jen I think. Then another lady from the Brat Pack had traveled many miles with a friend to get there.
Oh, we figured out what happened to my First Class that my DH ordered for me a while back. They had our name wrong and so the order did not go through. So now that is all straightened out and I'm looking forward to getting that.
I never would have known about all of the other AVs if it were not for you guys. To me, an AV was an AV. I had no idea that there were so many of them. And they are so fun to grow. I was totally shocked when I opened the dome to one of my sets of leaves today and saw all of those babies. The last time I checked there were only four of them with babies. Now there are at least a dozen. I'm just afraid to try to separate them, afraid that I will mess them up.
Lorry, if I see the ones that you named earlier, I will get them for you and you can either send me a money order or use my PayPal acct. I think that I have enough left on my bank card to get them for you. I'm off now to count my leaves and make a list of what I have so you can all tell me what you want. I can't wait til time to have a trade because they will not last that long. But I will send them to any of you that want them.
Talk to you a little later,
Jesse
I was just thinking as I was counting that it will take me forever to count all of those leaves and I was wondering if it would be easier to put them down myself and then have them to share with you whenever the next trade time comes around. I think I can manage enough room to put them all down. If there are any ones in particular that you all really want now, I will gladly send them to you. Or you can wait and I will put them down now and maybe they will have babies by the next trade time. What do you think? I've never done this before. Or if anyone is a newbie like I was when you all sent me so many leaves, I will gladly share them with you now. Just let me know what you all want me to do. This is another new experience for me, since I have not had any to share until now. And it is such a great feeling to be able to share mine with the rest of you. When I first came here, some of you sent me some leaves and now they are making babies. I would be glad to do that also. Just let me know the best way to do this.
Jesse
Oh, putting them down for fall trades sounds like a fine idea! But you may not want to put down more than a couple (4 maybe) of each, or you could be overwhelmed with plantlets (says the woman with 50 'Allegro Appalachian Trail' plantlets on a tray upstairs LOL). You could just Dmail the folks who have shared leaves with you and let them know if you have any extras...
I will look forward to a fall trade with you! Once plantlets start shipping out, I'll have room to put down more leaves... :-)
But what do I do with the leftovers? I can't bear to throw any of them away. Is there any newbies here that would like a good selection of them? Or do any of you want any of them? I will put some down for the fall trade but I just can't throw the leaves away. So if anyone wants any, please speak up.
Jesse
If their healthy I put them down. Anything wrong with them I don't waste my pots, soil nor time as we know it takes long enough to grow a healthy baby by leaf.
When I am giving leaves away I cut them right before I am packaging and shipping them so people can get them as fresh as possible.
So if you have already cut them I would put the healthyiest down. In the Fall I'm sure we will be having a great big Fall Secret trade. And private trades and sharing too :))
Wow,What a nice trip you had.Got lots of goodiesBeautiful!.I would love to trade later on for your vintage leaves or plantlets.
Wow is an understatement! Those are all gorgeous! I wouldn't kick any one of them out of the greenhouse! I am so jealous!

Among many others. You go girl grow them large !
Yes I have Ann and Granger's Wonderland. Which vintage one are you talking about? By the way, since it has been repotted, EverGrace is really growing well now and has several flowers. I am hoping that I will need to order some of those rings from Rob soon. I want some really big plants but I sure love my two little min trailers that you sent me. They are just so cute. My only problem with them is that I cannot put the leaves down and make babies. They die everytime because they are so small. Any tips on putting down small leaves and keeping them from dying before they make babies?
Jesse

You should be able to take any leaves off your plants and set them down to grow babies. Hek the Vendors send ot dinky leaves and they grow babies !
I misread what you wrote. That was me being so goofy. Now that I read it again it makes sense.
Oh wow! 24 inches across. I thing I will definitely need to order some rings. I love Ann. She is so beautiful and she has such beautiful leaves. I love the way the white outlines the edges of the leaves.
I do have quite a lot of the larger ones and didn't even realize it. I need to get all of mine and categorize them so that I know what they are supposed to look like and how big they will be. I would love to group all of the minis togther, the standards, etc. This is so fun. I never knew that AVS could be so much fun.
Jesse
i keep all small pots minis/babies on trays together and so on as their watering and light habits are different. many large on tray together or their own saucer.
That is what I want to do with mine but so far I've just been trying to get them all set up on their wick trays. Hopefully now that I have a large portion of them on wick trays I can start arranging the ones that are alike together. I already have all of my mini's together. Then from there I will just start moving them around until I have all the like ones together. I still have a portion of them that do not have wicks in them yet and I still have a lot of babies to separate from their moms. But I'm getting there and I will make it.
Jesse
With all the plants I send out to share, I move mine around like furniture but I keep like together. As my Mini's the lights are closer and they need less water/food but more often and so on ...
