When I went to Bluebird's Greenhouse, I was so excited. I had not been able to buy much of anything lately. I's still in the process of finishing up the lighting and gridwork on my shelves. So when I got in there with all of those beautiful violets, I just went crazy. And DH wanted me to have some since it had been so long, and as far as he knew, he still had a job. So, I started putting the little beauties in my basket. The lady there was so nice. She did not charge me full price for the Russians or the Space babies. She sold them all to me for $4, and she gave me a couple sets of leaves and she also broke a couple of suckers off of some space babies and gave them to me. Then on the supplies, she gave them to me for unreal prices. So I did get a great deal and didn't actually spend as much money as I would if I had ordered them. Plus there was no shippng. So, I am going to show you what I got. Some of them I have leaves for and a few were not big enough for me to take any from.
The first one is Ann.

Marshlands is an eye catcher, too!
Jesse, I bought Lillian Sparkler fom Bluebird also. I really like the foliage. It has small buds now. I can't wait for it to bloom. Linda
Yes it was unreal. She sold all of them for $4 each, even the Russians and the space babies. It was not the owner that was there, but another lady that works there. She told me to call her anytime to make arrangements to meet her there. I need to go back for a few more trays so that all of my AVs will be wicked. And if any of you ever want me to get something for you I will be happy to. Some of their plants are a little small but they try to keep as many in stock as possible. I was quite pleased with all of mine. And I would have loved to fill my car full of them. LOL And I finally got me some of the Optimara plant food made just for AVs and does not contain Urea. I was glad to get that. Plus I finally found the little sticky cards. So I got 21 violets, two sets of leaves, two plants that were suckers off of EverSpecial, three sets of a bottom, top, and a tray that holds 72 plants. She showed me how they do theirs and I was quite impressed and so I think I will give it a try. I can't remember all that I got but it was only $100 which I think was a bargain. And like DH said, sometimes you just need to get something special for yourself. Of course he said that before he lost his job, but he was happy for me to be able to go there and look and have fun. And when I say he lost his job, it was not because he got fired or anything like that, but because the boss was a big spender and did not manage the money properly, and so the company went broke.

How do they do their's ..I have always been curious since their soil seems so heavy! Do they bottom water?
If and when you go back I would LOVE for you to pick up mickey mouse, Baby tears, Anne, Festive holiday, grangers wonderland, marshlands, one of the blueberry ones, blue wonder and limelight for me.
Let me know before you go though so I can send you some cash for them :) and that is only if you have room and time some time :)
I don't think she has those on the site!
Very lovely. I love Blueberry Puf
Love the foliage on Ann. All of them are very nice. Congrats! Ü
Don
How fun!!!! They are beautiful. Hope they all do well for you. : ) Pam
WOWwowWOWza!!
Jesse, I'm glad you had such a great trip to Bluebirds! You sure brought home some beauties! I hope you'll put some leaves down for fall trades.... ;-)
I love the mosaic foliage on 'Festive Holiday' -- what a charmer! 'Ann' is gorgeous too... and I have a close friend by that name. :-)
I thought the beautiful foliage on 'Marshlands' reminded me of my little 'Atchafalaya Basin' plant... so I looked them up, and they are from the same hybridizer (B. Sisk). 'Ness' Blackberry Puff' isn't registered according to FC (Blueberry is in there).
I don't know if you're likely to remember if your memory is jogged.... but could your lost-tag noid be Yesterday's Sapphire Trail?
Please post your "haves" list on this thread, http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/581728/#new. :-)
Jesse maybe you have ;
Blackberry Jam (8184) 06/09/1995 (S. Sorano) Semidouble dark red-purple star. Variegated dark green and white, plain, ovate/red back. Large
>> I have it from Bluebirds>>
Instead of Ness' Blackberry Puff
That could be what it is. I will have to go check and see. Whatever it is it is very pretty.
Jesse
