New foliage Acer palmatum Shindishojo

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

My plant is still tiny, but this little tree is a BIG performer.

Here's another shot which includes my left hand. I was trying desparately to fool the lens into focusing on the brilliant foliage directly in front of it and not on the blades of grass in the background, but this photo does show the diminutive scale of the leaves. I'll try to get a shot of the whole plant tomorrow.

This Japanese maple will retain this color for a very long time, well into summer. In fall, it turns back to the brilliant scarlet it was in spring.

Here is a shot of the (small) plant amongst the landscape. This maple shall never get very big, but I do think that as it gets bigger it will become an exceptional element in the garden.

For $10 I will read your palm. For $20, your palm-atum.

Victor,

Very clever--that made me LOL. Of course, the fact I've had a beer might have something to do with it.

Beers when I read it! LMHO
