Street tree monoculture

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

I know Guy's and Prairie Girl's and others feeling on street tree monoculture, but, man, is this not gorgeous!

One more. Of course, I showed up to take my pictures on garbage day.

Wow, that is gorgeous. Is this in Cincy? Things are just starting to happen up here...it's about time. Red Maples are in full flower and my lone Magnolia (Merrill) should be flowering within the next couple of days. No frost expected through early next week so this might be another banner year for Loebner and Stellata Mag's. Could this be the year my Yellowwood flowers???

SCOTT! Get out of the road!

I do that all the time--stand in the middle of the road to take street tree pictures. I always wanted to yell at somebody not to do that. Had to take my chance. Next you're going to tell me you weren't standing in the middle of the road but taking the pictures WHILE driving! -- I've done that too.

I have found that NO OUTLET signs are used to discourage traffic, they are not always telling the truth...some are my favorite shortcuts!! Is that how you found these trees Scott?

Hi Joulz,

I was actually across a busy street shooting into the deadend street for the second shot. I had to time my shots so that traffic wouldn't interfere. My first attempt failed and I had a very amusing shot of a man in sunglasses whushing by in his mini-van. I wish I hadn't deleted that picture!

The first shot is the same street on the other side of the busy avenue. It is, in fact, a dead end, but it seemed like everybody in Cincinnati wanted (for some crazy reason!) to drive down that street. This meant that I not only had to delay my picture until the car went past me and all the way down the street, but I also had to wait while they found a driveway, turned around, and drove back out.

I found this beautiful little street planting because I often drive the busy street as one of my alternate way homes from my job.
