adding details

How do you add more details to a plant that most or all the info has already been filled in? EX propagation, sunlight, bloom, fragrance, synonyms?

If there's no info at all under a certain category, there should be a link that says "Unknown--Tell Us", then if you click on that it'll let you add information. If someone's put in info in a category but they left stuff out like they said propagate by seeds but it can also be propagated by cuttings, then I think you need to report it as an error. Synonyms work a little different--if you want to add one, then scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page under Your Actions and click on "Switch to live view", then when you go back up to the top you should see a link that says "add a synonym name"

Yes I know about the " unknown tell us". I was wondering about adding add'l info to areas that had already been filled in. I think my problem is that I didn't know to switch to live view. I will go and try one now.

If the information for that field has already been filled in, you can't add to it.

If you think the informaiton is in error, report the error using the "Report an error" button in the upper right hand corner. It's good to have some references to back up your report too.

If you have additional information that there's no field for, you can use the "Add your own note to this plant" link on the bottom of the plant's page. Your information will show up as a comment.

I don't think live view will let you add anything to areas that have already been filled in, except for the synonyms. At least that's what happens for me, even in live view the only new link that's available is the synonym one. I think the only way to add info to sections that are filled in is to report an error, but maybe you'll have better luck!

It's not so much that I think the info that is there is in error, it's just that there should be other details/options added to the plant. I will do that in the future instead of bugging Terry et al... lol!

berrygirl everybody above has given you great information. If you find a field that needs more information added to it send the report an error from that entry and please include links, etc to tell us why you think the information you want added is needed. That's a big help.

Speaking of details, I've been noticing quite a few entries of iris without the hybridizer and no details filled in at all. It is so much easier to enter details if the option to fill in all details at the same time is available.

Could the option to enter all details be made available if no details have been filled in?

I'm not sure what good it does us to put up just the name of the plant with no other information or photo.
