I just recently saw pictures of this awsome plant and I need to know how to keep this plant alive in winter. I have a greenhouse, but it gets horrifically hot in there on warm winter days even with the exhaust fan on. Or I could leave it sitting against the house where it would have some protection and of course also cover it. Which would work better? Or should I pick something else? Thanks for your advice.

Alocasia Brian Williams in Tx hill country?
Well I should know best. Its possible my favorite plant LOL. The guy who made it is an amazing person :>)
Well it should do well in your area in a shady area try to keep it from getting over 100F in full sun with no humidity you will see the leaves wilt up. I would suggest treating it about like Alocasia Macorrhiza which was one of the parents to the plant. If you can grow a bit close to water or a damp area it may help with humidty.
patting your own back good job Brian Williams lol hey you know you were named after a plant.
p.s. if anyone knows about this one its brian.

All in good humor LOL. Its the same old question which came first the chicken or the egg.
I would have to agree with you Brian.:) I can put it next to the north side of the house where it would get only a couple of hours of sun in the morning in the spring. Later as the redbuds and pecans leaf out, it might not get any sun at all. My concern is what to do with it in the winter. Would it be better to plant it in the ground and leave it for the winter or plant it in a pot? If I put it in a pot would it need to go in the greenhouse for the winter, or could I leave it outside in a protected spot?
Im not brian but i have had this plant before and i think in texas in zone 8 you may be able to just leave it in the ground but check with brian first.
BTW how do get one of these plants? I looked it up in plant files and there's nothing to click on about people who sell it.
