This is my unknown cultivar Spirea. It started having an area of pretty yellow/green variegation about 2-3 yrs ago. Now the leaves are mostly yellow and the affected area is growing and also has appeared in another part of the plant. Is it sick, sporting, mutating or what? Should I dig it up and throw it away? I have another spirea growing right beside it and I dont want it to be affected.
Am I sick
According to Hillier, Spiraea can turn yellow and fail in shallow alkaline soil. Does this describe your soil?
Donn,
I have hard clay but I don't know about the shallow alkaline part. I always thought our soil was kind of acidic as I have lots of azaleas and other things that flourish.
So if I don't correct this it will die?
