Hello :) Am searching for HELP from anyone that provide it! I can't tell how tall these plants are from the photo but I have one that is 5 feet PLUS and am searching for care tips. It has doubled in size from last year ( planted in the summer of 06 ) and don't want to take any chance of harming it! I have had to stake it now it has become so large. I feel it is too late in year to try and divide it now ( if I can even divide it at all ) It seems as though it multiplies on its own....can you give me any suggestions! I have it growing in full sun but it is starting to show signs of burning on the leaves so not sure where the best place to plant would be???? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Turtle,

What a coincidence! I just sat down to upload pictures of the Belamcanda!
I was just in the garden snapping shots of a butterfly having it's way with the
Belam. Too fun!

Well, I have mine in the full sun, but I must say I have all of mine in clumps.
It seems to grow best when supported by other plants nearby, they lean on
one another for support.

Have you had a lot of rain and wind lately? When you mentioned burning
on the leaves, I have to ask, do you fertilize them, or is the burning from the
sun?

While mine don't reach five feet, it sounds as though you must have some
pretty darned good soil, or they certainly like the area. Are you positive
you have Belamcanda chinensis?

I just posted a picture .... so I hope to get lots of replies as to what everyone thinks! :)
I believe it is getting too much sun ( burnt leaf tips ) I planted this last summer and have not used any furtilizer and have only fed it once with miracle grow. Thanks for all your help!

Hi Teresa,

Hmm. Yep, those are Belamcanda alright.

They look fabulous to me, I don't really see the
ends as burning so much as normal. I can't say
why they do it, but it seems like they are doing
just fine.

:-) If the ends bother you, you can always cut them off,
that is what I do when the Iris look haggard.

Many thanks, Karen! I appreciate any advice you can give as to HOW to care for this plant ( I know it seems I am doing everything right so far by the picture ) but I had to stake it now as it has become so big and heavy for itself. Have you divided your plants before? I dont want to risk harming it! Do they multiply on their own? Hate to be a bother but am growing anxious over it's size!
