Well, I have mine in the full sun, but I must say I have all of mine in clumps.
It seems to grow best when supported by other plants nearby, they lean on
one another for support.

Have you had a lot of rain and wind lately? When you mentioned burning
on the leaves, I have to ask, do you fertilize them, or is the burning from the
sun?

While mine don't reach five feet, it sounds as though you must have some
pretty darned good soil, or they certainly like the area. Are you positive
you have Belamcanda chinensis?
