PPM (parts per million) Method of fertilizing

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Nanna you have the most wonderful perfect set-up. :)) And the pretties plants. And you sure can grow trailers , I wanted to send you trailers as your so good with them. Please tear them apart if you like as I just let them grow any which way they want. lol
Plants in pots too large will most likely not bloom or give you many flowers. And trailers do like to have good bunch of roots ! Young plants are not going to bloom .
Light is the most important thing to give your plants to bloom. If you want a lot of flowers you must give your plants everything they need and in our sticky is a list of everything and many links. You can't have one thing and leave out a few things your plants need.
Then the plants need to be old enough. It takes a good 9-12 months on most parts from the time you put down a leaf until the plant will bloom.
I was reading back in Dec. Pam wrote about her plants not blooming then. I bumped the thread up there were a lot of good answers for reason why Pam's plants may not be blooming then.
It is good to start with small plants they will adjust to their new enviroments with ease. Always good to put a leaf or two down of each plant you get just incase they do not adjust. If anything you will have something to trade and share !
If you get a plant from me it has come from an enviroment humdity, air circulation, fan's going, temps average 70-75 all the time, and nights 68-70. 12-16 hours of lights, less in hot summer. Or they might have been in a window with shades open from morn to sundown and might have been closed if hot sun comes out. But most often they have been undrer lights. Their on a regular light fertilizing and watering program and use to warm/hot water so cold won't do.
They are Spaced so no one touches. Their potted in new pots that have been bleached before using. I never re-use pots or soil. I use 60 percent Perlite .
I think everyone has to change things to meet their needs and enviroment. Just keep to the simple basics
and everything should be fine and you will have flowers year round.
If it works for you keep doing it. If you want to try different method, might make things easier for you, healtheir plants more blooms go for it !
But the best thing is just to give your plants the basic care they need to be happy and bloom !

Thanks Allison. Sure appreciate all your valuable information. Ü

I'm going to let the trailers just rest for a couple of months before I do anything with them. I think it will be best to let them get aclimated to MD before rearranging their roots, etc.

Again, Allison, thanks so much for your generousity.

Your welcome Nanna. I have read many times it is best to wait a month or two before re-potting nre plants . It's a good idea.

I'd like to add this link to a new thread I just posted
giving you good reason why the information Joanne gave us is good. Or why using less fertilizer is always the best method to follow ~

Hello,

Well I said I would report back since I have been doing this PPM fertilizing....well I defnitely have noticced a difference in my AV's.

Some of them that hadn't bloomed all winter are now in bud or blooming. I started April 4 or 5th, can't remember, so they said within three weeks or so. It has been just over two weeks and I must say maybe it is just because I have cut the fertilizer down so much...but I will contunue to use it.

Your welcome Lali ! Hi :))

Hi Allison,

It is working wonderful! I have more blooms, lasting longer and they seem to rise above the foliage higher as well!

I am very pleased with the results and will continue to fertilize this way.

Hi Allison,

Oh you are so very welcome...glad to help out.

LOL! I have a girl friend that usually killed all her plants because she overwatered and I told her about this new way to fertilize and she commented the other day....Joanne my plants are doing so much better, you have to come and see them...so I was very happy to hear that. She just loves them to death....literally!
