New Carpinus foliage

And, for an encore, here's a shot I took at Heronswood Nursery two years ago. These surround the potager garden. They are definitely hornbeam, which one, I don't know. Probably C. betulis.

Now I know where a guy in Better Homes & Garden's got this idea from... And yes, he used Carpinus betulus. I've been thinking about doing this myself around the eating area out back.

The article laid out exactly how to accomplish it. Was fairly simple and matures beautifully. Seems it would even work to create a living gazebo.

In article, the guy used 8' whips spaced, if I recall correctly, every 4'.
Pretty cool.
