Anyone see a Begonia luxurians like this one??

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Oh Jackie. Never spend that on one. They are in lots of nurseries here and the gallon can goes for about $6.99. I saw 5 gallon cans of huge ones the other day I think they were $36. And that was at an overpriced nursery. They are not expensive plants, people got into a bidding war and must not have known about these plants.

I wonder if I could meet you at Lakeside in Oakland Lali.

Sue are you coming? What day are we talking about? Saurday?

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Oh Yes, I remember the difference now. Is that a azalea?? It looks gorgeous and so PINK.
LOL, Hcmcdole

Jackie,

I wonder why T&M quit selling the seed? It is a nice addition to the yard but I wouldn't want a bunch of them. Same goes for brugmansia.

Kell,

Yes, that is a florist azalea I've had for nine years.

This Sat. I have a daylily meeting in Concord. If I can dig them out of the mud.

Can I give you a shopping list LOL? Are you going to the UC Berkeley member presale Friday night? or the Sat. sale? I still NEED that Deppea splendens.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Shoot, is that one then too. I actually belong to that one.

Butch, you did great keeping a florist azalea alive. I hear they use hormones to get it to flower so hard then they are hard to keep alive. Yours is so pretty.

Brugs are so big and gangly to have more than a couple. Believe me, I know. LOL

Is this one Alba? I almost bought a 4 in one of Annies on Saturday but it was covered in ahpids.

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

Here Kell, shot this one in October.

Sale in sfo starts at 10, the line starts at 9 if you want anything good. Stuff goes fast since it's a small sale. This one focuses on Epi's, next month is THE big spring sale with member's only preview on Friday night.

I don't know anything about the Lakeside sale, do tell! I can meet just about anywhere Kell. Have bug, will travel!

Lots of fuschia (bolivian and otherwise), succulents, vines, salvias, natives etc in SFO.

Berkeley sale? what sale, when where... Whatchya doin Friday night Kell?

Yes, Alba. Probably the rain is not helping with the aphid population.

Oops, I had the Berkeley date wrong. I just knew it was before a daylily meeting and thought it was this weekend. I have another one on 4/29. But maybe I should sign up as a Member for Friday night!
Member's Sale: Friday, April 28, 2006. 5 PM - 7:30 PM
Public Sale: Saturday, April 29, 2006. 9 AM - 2 PM

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

Soooo, is no one going to answer my ? "What's the best mail order, reasonably priced and sized?"

No wait, save me, don't tell me.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Sue, I am so confused about what is what. Funny I didn't get a notice about a Berkeley Botanical sale. You would think I would being that I am a member.

I am not at home or I would post the Lakeside sale. I forget what group that is. I am so confused. LOL

So are you now free Saturday? And what mailorder place are you talking about? For begonias? And join where? LOL Which garden??

So Lali, you want to go to the epi sale? It is the big spring sale I am hot to go to. I was told at the San Francsico Flower and Garden show that they would have vireya there for sale. That is my next big true love. LOL.

We need to organize these sales.

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

Kell, looks like
Sat April 8 is Strybing sale
Sun April 9 is Lakeside sale http://www.calhortsociety.org/plant-sale/plant-sale-index.html with preview Sat for members.
Sat. April 29 is the Berkeley Sale http://botanicalgarden.berkeley.edu/plantSale/PlantSale.shtml with preview Friday for members only.

BUT sat. April 29 is also the Nor Cal Stockton Round up if you are going. AND the San Mateo AVSA show and sale

Friday May 5th is the spring sale at Strybing (Members only sale)

Hope this helps.

I'll probably go to the epi sale since I have begonias I need to drop off anyway. Why don't you go with me on the 5th to the member's only sale. Be my date for the night!! I know my DH would love to bow out!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Is that a Wednesday? During the day, I hope?? I would love to go to the Conservatory too, my favorite place in the world, esp. the pool room.

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

for the big sale? no, that's on Friday evening. (5-8pm?) then we could go eat there near the park. (within walking distance)
Kell, dmail me where you live so I can google map it.

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

I just signed up for email notices from both SF and Berkeley.

You're confused!
I just wanted someone to give me an idea of where a good place to mail order begonias from. Is Glasshouse Works? Their site is so confusing. I wanted to click on the image links, doesn't work.
I went to the Amer. Begonia Society site too. Printed out a couple of articles. Looks like I NEED b. Lana too LOL! Love the covers for their journals.
maybe Kell we should just head to Lali's, next best thing to seeing a whole lot in a nursery. We may be able to take a kayak up, and wear fly fishing rubber boots, whatever they're called and I'll bring the wine. :-)

Kell, It's hard to believe that someone actually pd that amt.
I have a 3 yr old pack of Acnistus australis seeds. I'm going to try
to germinate a few so I can see what all the fuss is about
.
Butch, I can only guess that sales of that seed had slowed.
If they don't sell, then out they go.

LOL you guys. I am even more confused.

"I'll probably go to the epi sale since I have begonias I need to drop off anyway. Why don't you go with me on the 5th to the member's only sale. Be my date for the night!! I know my DH would love to bow out!"

So which are you talking about there, Lali??

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

Sorry Kell, I'm referring to both dates.

I'll go this sat and again on the 5th (friday evening) I'd love to have you join me for either.
