Lilium gloriosoides

Try searching for Lilium speciosum var. gloriosoides

I think that's right anyway.

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

I couldn't find any info that specifically stated zone hardiness. Only one with a reference that said "may not survive in areas with severe winters". Hopefully someone will come along with better info. :)

Very cool lily, though!

yep thats it!!! i need a zone on it!!! whaaaannnnnn

thanks joan and moby!!!

I found info that it was from China. That indicates to me that there must be some hardiness to it. The other bit of info was that in colder areas, it may not set seed and would do better as a greenhouse plant. The bulb price was over 30.00. If you don't care about the seed, I bet it would do well in a sheltered location such as along side a heated foundation.

well then i guess i will go for it! i can get them for 10.00 and they are so pretty i will put themon the south facing wall and mulch em-dont care about seeds as long as i get blooms!!!

Saint Bonifacius, MN(Zone 4a)

I got some little bulbs to try in zone 4. I really think they have a chance, and I'll bet there will be no problem for you.

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

i ordered a couple from her to try-they are just so pretty!!!
good luck growing yours Leftwood!

NotMartha, the only thing I've found was a government report. I've attached the link here.

http://www.ars-grin.gov/cgi-bin/npgs/html/taxon.pl?22218

It says Distribution Range: Asia Temperate.

That kind of tells me that they really wouldn't be hardy in colder areas... but hey, you can always try.;)

With perennials that die back to the ground, zone ratings can be very enigmatic. Of course, it can depend on a lot of things. For instance, I am nearly convinced that my success with epimediums is due to the winter dry where I have them. And the soil there certainly gets colder than what is the norm for soil temps here too. I have friends in zone 3 that grow many zone 5 perennials.

They are not on any more. Think she has sold them all. Sob sob. Now I'll have to wait till the species bulb sale in the fall. Serves me right for not running around cyberspace too much lately.
