My new quince!

I remember having a quince where I grew up, except that it was a salmon color. I was at a local nursery earlier this week and saw this one and HAD to have it. It is the most luscious shade of tomato red I've ever seen. It's a mass of bloom right now.

Major envy, Kylee. My absolute favorite color. Buick used to offer this tomato red in the 50's on some of their cars. Hope it does well for you. Ken

Thanks, Ken. I hope so, too. I put it where I can see it out my window near my computer, which is where I spend a lot of time, when not in the gardens. :-)

I have a 2000 New Beetle, and ohhhhhhh how I would love to have one in that color of red! (Mine is silver.) Unfortunately, Volkswagen uses a bluer red. Still pretty, but not my 'quince red.'

Kbaumle - is that Texas Scarlet? oops I see you did post the name
I planted Cameo and Jet Trail last year - much paler colors - peach and white. They are under a 'Jane' magnolia which is bright bright purple. They are leafing out right now - pretty shade of green.

On the other hand I bought my 6" high bare root cheap-o Tree Peonies last spring from Costco and one has 2 buds on it. That makes up for a lot of non-performance elsewhere in the garden!

WOW! Very cool! My tree peony has growth buds all over the place, so I'm really hoping to see a flower or two on it this year. I planted it last spring.

Can I hijack you long enough to post this? I bought this Pieris Valley Valentine last year at Holden Arboretum - couldn't wait to see it bloom, and now I can't wait till its full grown so I'm not on the ground looking up to see these flowers!

I had to look that one up. WOW! What a neat shrub!
