Is this Ipomoea purga??

Muehlleiten, Austria(Zone 7b)

Hello,
please help me to identify this plant. I got the seeds as Ipomoea purga . After 4 weeks (after the germination ) it has got approx. 4 feet in size. I already see flower buds now! Is this not unusual ?

Dietmar, Ron just told us in a different thread a few days ago that Ip Purga is the same as Ipo Turbinata. Mine is listed under the old name of muricata. In any case, it is listed as a strong, vigorous grower.

Jackie, this is the reason why I ask this question and send fotos. I am surprised at the early flower buds. What do your plants look like? Do they already have flower buds, too?

Dietmar, I have not started my mg's this season. Will do so soon.
I did not do well with this glory last yr. I got blooms very early but
after 3 or 4 blooms, it started forming seed pods and quit blooming.
Still have no idea what I did wrong. This time I am going to remove the first few seedpods to see what happens.
Good luck with yours. Sounds like you're doing everything right.

Dietmar -- The sepals on the flowerbuds look like Ipomoea turbinata to me...as I had mentioned previously,so far all of the suppossed Ipomoea 'purga' has turned out to be Ipomoea turbinata...

The early flowering may be a response to the type, length, intensity and ratio of sunlight and supplemental electric lighting that they are receiving...if the plants stop flowering, you may need to remove any of the developing fruiting parts and they may resume flowering...

TTY,...

Thanks Ron,

I will further watch the plant. I am curious as it will develop in future.

Argyreia nervosa - that is what it looks like to me. Hawaiian baby woodrose, plant is very lime green and fuzzy>? They are the most wonderful magical plant.-(magical-because they grow so fast and are so healthy!

OOps, i'll just mind my own business-not fuzzy- and it well, it looked like it in the first photo!
I believe I am wrong, not Argyreia nervosa afterall.
have a great day!

Hello,

the plant already is flowering now but only in the night. I think that plant is Ipomoea turbinata.
