Hi,
I've read on a couple of web sites that to germinate cassia bicapsularis (winter cassia, Christmas Senna) seeds, you should pour boiling water over the seeds and then soak over night. Has anyone tried germinating these seeds and have you done this boiling water treatment to them or just nicked and soaked and planted?
Any info would be helpful.
thanks!

Boiling Water treatment? Cassia bicapsularis
Hi Onalee, I've done it on Albizia and Acacia. I just boiled the water, poured it on the seed in a glass and left it. It worked beautifully.
Thanks -I guess I'll give it a try!

Wow, I read about it, but I was to much afraid to try LOL! I will give it a try now you have reassured me LOL!
why does the water have to be boiled.
Something about breaking down the hard outer coating faster. I was also very hesitant in the past. This time I was too busy and didn't have time to be concerned, boiled the water in a glass with seed and left it for a day.
ok, well I'm gonna give it a go today on the cassia seeds and see how it goes.
thanks!
Onalee
