An ornamental peach that is just coming into bloom here in the hill country of central Texas.
Ornamental Peach
Very pretty. Is there a root flare? Looks like might be planted too deep.
Scott
There is root flare, but it's just not noticeable and the tree has grown considerable since putting it in three years ago. I have one in the back yard with the white blossoms.
Help, Equil, are the ornamental peaches jake? I don't know why I ask, the only peaches we get up here probably come from Chile along with the rest of our fruit.
I think you're going to have issues being that you're so far north. I'm really not familiar with ornamental peaches at all. I think Stark Bros carries one called Bonfire that I can see in my catalog but I've never paid attention to them. If you want to try a peach for the nice spring blossoms, why don't you consider Reliance or Contender. Those two might have a shot at making it that far north if you plant them in a protected location. Mine are fine so far. Others you might research would be Harvester, Surecrop, and Red Haven as they might be able to survive the northern reaches. If you locate a Surecrop out there, I'd be interested in trying that Peach.
