What Size Container??

I want to grow some Japanese MGs in containers this year. Many I only have 3 or 4 seeds of. How large a container would I need for them? Can I plant 3 seeds in a 6" or 8" diameter pot, would that give them enough room? Last year I had 2 huge pots with 4" bamboo that I got at my local nursery that were just loaded with MGs and looked great in front of the house. This year I've got so many varieties with just a few seeds that I thought I could do several pots on a smaller scale. Any ideas??

I would grow one vine per 8" container, but that container might be a bit small for even one vine. I would grow one or 2 vines in a container with 18" to 24" diameter. You would have more room for a trellis in the pot like a small tomato cage (although with 24" container the setup would soon become top heavy and blow over in windy weather) and it would not dry out as fast as a smaller container. Just a thought...

You can plant many seeds in a 24" container! I've had as many as 20-30 seeds in that size container which gives the vines a lushness. Go for it!

Thanks for the input. I know the containers I had them in last year were about 18" across, with 4' bamboo, and it was just a mass of plants, and was just covered with flowers all summer. I'm hoping those dropped enough seeds that they will take off again this year. I thought a few others, on a smaller scale would look nice, too. I just couldn't decide if the 2 or 3 seeds I have of some varieties of MGs would be enough, or too much for a smaller pot.
