After searching for these seeds everywhere I finally found the Silver ones. Now my question is --Has anyone ever collected seeds from them and do they grow True to their parents..I really don't want to have to buy these again as they are $6.99 for 6 seeds..
Question about Tidal Wave Petunia
Parks has them for 3.50/10 seeds in a few different colors; pinks, blue and the silver. There's no indication that they are sold out. I don't know if the seeds would be true or not, but I'd venture to guess they would eventually revert back.

Over time they will revert...there's a slight chance they won't even set seeds at all.
A percentage of next year's plants will probably be similar, but not exactly the same as the original hybrid...by careful seed saving..(provided you get any)...you can dehybridize and get a stable plant that may resemble the original somewhat...but won't look like it exactly. It may not have the same color...or it's growing habit may be different..(less trailing) It's like throwing dice with a hybrid...you never know what you'll get...but sometimes you get something that you didn't know you wanted till you get it...and that's a good thing.
One last thing...don't trade these seeds till you see what you get the next year...or make it clear that these are not going to be like the parent.
beaker I will have to get Parker Catalogue.Do you know if they ship to Canada.. If I get some seeds which I really don't expect believe me I will not trade them at that price but it would be interesting to see what comes from them...Thanks for the info
Sorry, I don't know, but click on their shipping info and it should indicate where they will ship to. Parks has a great catalog and there's a germination insert on most of the more common flowers and vegtables. Another thought, I'm not sure if you're near a city or not, but here the grocery stores have seed stands. I know I saw Burpee Tidal Wave mixes for $2 something and this past week I noticed all the seeds were 40% off.
If they don't ship, I could place your order and mail to you. Dmail me if you want to do something like that and we'll work out the details. Or I could check on the Burpee seeds for you which are even cheaper.
beaker Thank You again!!! I guess I should learn to read....I have just ordered a catalogue from them and yes they do ship to Canada...YIPEE!!! I am always looking for new things to try and I am sure there are lots in the catalogue...I have gotten such wonderful seeds from people in the US that I have never heard of and to me this is very exciting....Thanx again.

Henry Fields http://henryfields.com/product.asp?pn=01023 has 50 seeds for $4.95 in the silver Tidal Wave
s_neubaum You are breaking my heart here...I only had 4 of the 10 seeds germinate so I contacted Mckenzie seeds and they said they are going to send me more...At that price I paid I will complain loud and clear.
I had several kinds of waves 2 (I think silver and purple) years ago - I did succesfully save seed and germinate them to maturity - TO ME - they were nicer than their hybrid parents - the 2nd generation had the wave habit but this delicoius orange dreamcickle smell - but they were NOT exactly the same. I did succefully save seed last year - and am currantly growing out the plants - I will LYK the results - or D mail me to remind me later this summer.
Like Forrest Gump said...'Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you'll get'
Sometimes the offspring are better than the parent...and you get something you didn't know you wanted till you've got it.
Well I sure hope mine set seeds as I would love to get some and try it next year..I sure one of us remember as I would love to know what you get from the 2nd generation.
