Look what I found!!! Seeds on my Windmill !

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

What a surprise I found this week on my Windmill palm - it was just a baby when I got it about 8 years ago. Now it is about 12 ft tall. I just noticed these "Things" hanging off the trunk - I don't know if these are just clumps of flower buds or if they are the beginnings of seeds? There are 7 large "clumps" of these pods on the tree. How long will it take for the seeds to develope and will they be viable seeds - I don't know of any other Windmills in the area. I hope somew palm experts will give me an answer.

They're flower buds - whether they will be male or female isn't visible yet (most palms are dioecious, with separate male and female plants)

I was afraid of that - it will be interesting to watch the progress tho. How long will it take to find out?? Thank you.

You'll have to wait until the fall to see if seed develop. The seed are green and turn to black like blueberries in clusters. The seed ripen over winter and I've just started harvesting now.
