Hey Lily lovers - the coop forum is back!

Englishtown, NJ(Zone 6b)

Isn't it wonderful. Dave has updated the rules for coops. I remember the last lily coop with Langbr that was awesome! Hopefully we'll be able to do some lily coops again!

Fruitport, MI(Zone 5a)

I've never been involved in a coop. They ended around the time I signed up. I sure would like to get in on a lily coop. Is it too late for one this year?

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Please tell us that it wouldn't be too late for a fall order!

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

It's probably a little late for Spring, but certainly not for a Fall coop. Need to first find a volunteer to coordinate it, tho!

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

Sure u may, Moby... we'll all support u 100 per cent!! Har har har!

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Nooooo........ I'm too disorganized.

Englishtown, NJ(Zone 6b)

I did a swap once and although I am really organized, I don't think I could handle all the coordination for a Coop - I am a first rate participant though! ;>}

Fruitport, MI(Zone 5a)

I'm a good organizer but my life if too busy right now. If my life calms down by the end of summer, I'll think about doing a lily co-op for fall planting. Would anyone be interested for a fall lily co-op? Does anyone have any suggestions for companies to deal with?

......heh, heh, heh........

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Absolutely! Like mvespa, I'm a first rate participant!

Count me in, please.

Haydenville, MA(Zone 5a)

of course i need more lilies...hmmmmm...have a few months to come up with a good explanation for my sweetie!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

"The scent of lilies makes me so passionate".

Columbia Heights, MN(Zone 4a)

LOL, that's a little more than I needed to know, Pirl.

I'm also interested in a coop this fall.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Gee whiz! I was just trying to help out esw! She wanted a "good explanation for" her sweetie and I thought it just might work. :-)

My DH says the Orientals smell like death. Nice huh. What he means is that it reminds him of funerals. He hates when the Orientals are in full bloom, the "smell of death is everywhere".

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I associate gladiolus with funeral wreaths.

Haydenville, MA(Zone 5a)

lol, pirl....i'll see if it works...
mvespa....some of the asiatic hybrids have a less 'traditional' scent...(i find some of the trumpets to be a bit much, but they are pretty ok outside)

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

It might just be my nose but we have a few hundred Asiatics and I can't smell any of them. I can smell the Orientals and roses but not Asiatics.

Columbia Heights, MN(Zone 4a)

Most of the asiatics don't have a fragrance. However, some do.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

NOT that I can fit anymore......but just in case - which ones really do have a noticeable fragrance? Thanks for your help.

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

pirl-- many lilies that have L. lankongense or cernuum in their genes are usually fragrant. The Lily Garden denotes these in their catalogue and web site.

Columbia Heights, MN(Zone 4a)

I just saw one on Parkland's site called Honeyqueen that is suppose to be a fragrant asiatic. I know I've heard of others but fragrance isn't a big deal to me, so I don't note which ones are. I have year long allergies, so with all the congestion, I don't smell things unless they are really strong odors like baking bread and such. For me to smell a rose, I have to get my nose right into it.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Thanks pardalinum! I'll have to look there.

beaker_ch - I appreciate the beauty more than the fragrance but do like the early morning fragrance in the air of the rose garden and the Orientals on the opposite side of the house so I thought if I could get a few Asiatics it would be wonderful. :-)

Since I had an operation in 2001 I've only been able to smell strong smells - just like you and bread. I've been making a lot more food with garlic just to smell something yummy!
