I have just transplanted one of two beds of variegated Solomon's Seal and have some large pieces with multiple growing points and some short ends with growing points. All well and good.
I'm wondering if the rhizomes that are old "back end" roots will take? They are pieces I removed to start some in pots and removed the old growth from the shorter tip lengths. I planted the "tipless" pieces just the same, but hope someone here can advise me. I could use the space they're in for something else if they won't sprout new growth and I won't have to tie the space up waiting to find out.
Thanks.
Robert.
Propagating Poygonatum odoratum variegatum.
If the rhizomes have growing points or eyes on them then you will be able to get offspring. Be sure to keep the planted rhizomes wet and in a partially shady position.
The pieces with eyes have already grown some, so they're ok.
What about eyeless lengths of rhizome? Will they do anything?
Robert.
