Salvia argentea

Western, PA(Zone 6a)

For some reason Salvia argentea is difficult to start, or at least gives low return. It also will not reseed outdoors. I have more seed, and ask if anyone has a certain technique to share.

Not sure why you are having trouble. The salvias, as a rule don't require extraordinaryly high soil temps (68-72 degrees). The seeds need light, and I would lay the seed right out on the soil, mist with hot water ( as hot as you can get it-with a mister its not as hot as you would think, mist the inside of the plastic) daily and have good bottom heat. Is that about what you did?

Thank you tigerlily, I will try misting. That may be what is needed.

Rereading my post, not sure if I made it clear to mist both the seeds and the inside of the plastic daily. Good luck!
