This morning in Victoria !

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Thank goodness it's not -40 below here however! ;)

For those that didn't watch the movie Braveheart it had something to do with the lifting of the kilt!!! ;) NOT x-rated.

alas no, the mukluks weren't for real. The peeuney amount of rain and snow and the lightening were real tho.

Here's Cooper a month ago. He's now about 70lbs.

Mg99 and Kinnika you have to know that Pam is so envious of you her only joy (in her pain) is to roast you fortunates in the Pac. NW.
I dated Margaret WALLACE who claim scottish decent from one of the other wallaces cause William made no children. And her family taught me why the Romans built Hadrians wall. They were terrified by the scots raiding from the north in the state of battle where both swords were hanging from the belt. No Kilts present.

Grand Forks, BC(Zone 5b)

Nice photo of your robin, kinnika. Linda, your dog is a real beauty.

Don

(Zone 7b)

What a great picture of Cooper - he's huge! I guess I still had a picture of him in my head as a puppy..

You got lightning? Exciting!

Linda, thanks for showing us your Cooper, he's lovely. Yes please when you see Inanda, please box her up and send her home. She's long overdue.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Oooooooooh I'm much better now Sofer......dem BC Scots tho just have gotten soft living there!!! ;)

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

As a scot I had to find a more challenging garden location so I left Puget Sound and headed east old man.

Hi
I don't think Cooper has quite grown into his feet yet! Does that big stick have any special meaning or is it a toy?
Nice to see him again!

Och Aye ! I take my hat (tam !) off to all you gardeners in other parts of Canada. I don't know how you all cope with snow and such a long winter. I have now been in Canada longer than I lived in Scotland and count myself very lucky that I landed in Victoria !

LOLOLOL oh tis lovely to hear your Scottish burr again Heather!!!! Ü re the rest your blood is very Scottish (unlike me....no dilution there;) and it shows in the canniness of choosing your location!

edited to say I'll still take our (every year but this) prairie sunshine tho! ;)

Quoting:
very nearly never went to work this morning - there was AT LEAST a half an inch on the ground !!

LOLOLOLOL Well, better late than never. Just look at the tomfoolery I miss when I'm away for a few days! I surely do remember what it was like to live in Victoria and (even at the innocent age of 13/14) end up with my mouth hanging open when someone who'd been there a while would make a remark like that. I had just come from Ontario, where we still regularly experienced the joys of blizzards (early 70's).

Today we are experiencing thunder storms with heavy rain and a high of 16. My gardens are actually snow free with this week's "heat wave". Tomorrow it's snow flurries and a high of 0. I'll post pics for you poor hard done by BCers so you can gloat and get even with us :-)

LOLOL........bout time Ginny! ;)

Drumheller, Canada(Zone 3b)

We have had a rel dump of snow here in Alberta so I will share with anyone that would like some..Notice to 2 Jack's playing in the snow storm.

Don't like the jacks, but what a beauty of a wagon. And thanks but you won't have to share your snow with me. We like our wagons here too.

I doubt this will make you feel any better Lynn, but at least you know your not suffering alone.

Quit bragging you two........Just divide your bounty in half and send it MY way!!!!!!!
Gorgeous wagons BTW!!!!!!!!!!!

Pam (whose partial wagon is surrounded with ice ........... so no pic from me;).

Blyth, ON(Zone 5b)

I don't know what's happening at home right now, since I'm at work a little over an hour south, but I do know we have severe wind and snowsquall warnings in effect for Huron county. Just lovely (she says in disgust). I just want to be able to get back home this afternoon! Right now in London it's partly sunny but very windy/gusty. If I make it home before dark tonight I'll take pics if we really did get dumped on :-( --Ginny

Ginny, I don't envy you at all with the horrid weather. I'd take a picture of what we're facing here, but I think you'd probably reach through the screen and strangle me.

Linda in mostly sunny and warm Victoria

I guess we shouldn't be in this thread if we can't take it Linda. It is supposed to be about Victoria.

Nice sunny day here too, but I'll leave off the warm. Won't be long now though. I need it to stay frozen here for a few more days. the power crew is coming in to replace my line and the yard post is right between my greenhouse and my favourite shade bed. Could be interesting.

Victoria, BC(Zone 8b)

It's interesting though to hear what everyone else is doing weather wise. Most of the threads get a bit off topic anyway.

I hope that your line instalation goes smoothly with out damage to anything.

Blyth, ON(Zone 5b)

Well, so far this has been the storm that never was for us. Lots of high gusty winds but not much snow. We have maybe a whole 1/2 inch of the white stuff :-) So, no pics to show our West Coast members. I'd apologize, but I can't honestly feel bad about not having much snow! Maybe I'll get my "dream come true" zone 8 in Ontario yet (yeah Pam, I'm drinking lots of coffee and seeing fairies again).

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

LOL after seeing the weather channel tonight I'm positive you are Ginny! ;)

How bad was it today?

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

Ok Victoria. The best place to get drunk and race sailboats in the great "Driftsure". The longest test of patience in the history of sailboat racing. Or the hairiest terrifying hours of rounding the lightship a mariner can handle. A city you don't have to garden cause there is one every block in town. Ahhh but the best museum of natural history I have ever seen.

Blyth, ON(Zone 5b)

It was just windy here Pam. Now that has finally died down as well, although we're a bit cooler now with high temps hovering around the 0 to +2 range.. As a matter of fact, I just posted to the "Signs of Spring" thread that I saw/heard a robin singing out his mating call for all he was worth last night! In zone 5b! Woo-hoo!

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Oh well *pouting here* ;) at least I have the Manitoba/Alberta peeps that I can commiserate with (be quiet BC). Kinnika also has a robin, so maybe there is a couple around here too (going by her pic I kinda doubt they are singing their hearts out tho).

(Zone 7b)

peep.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

:b ;)

Blyth, ON(Zone 5b)

Mr. Robin already found himself a Mrs. :-) There's no dust settling on his wing feathers!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 2b)

Soferdig. It's the Swiftsure race, may 27-29. Huge event, including pancake brekkies, tons of parties/cocktails/masses of volunteers. Am sorry I'll miss it this year.

On march 10 the temp in Victoria was -10C the morning of the snow/hail/freezing rain. Soon warmed up though to above freezing. The Principal at my grandson's school kept the kids in for recess. He said it was too dangerous to go outside to play. Grrr...

Had a lovely visit with Linda, seeing all her NZ pix. And the fab. Cooper who came to visit too. What a doll he is.

Great thing I viewed in Victoria was the exhibition of Linda Macartney's photos she took down through the years. If they come to your town, don't miss them if you are interested in the Beatles or other musicians of the 60's/70's.
