Drumheller, AB(Zone 2a)

Morning Nan...

I meant to say your violets are sooooo pretty! TFS!

Okay here is the baby to match with the mom photo...they are both the same flower but the foilage is different!

Have you ever heard of that?

Morning Jill,

I really like your Blue Star noid...

Oh Joanne
Your's are so beautiful too. That's the reason I bought my Russina leaves as I love the look !
Your baby is still attached to the Mom a sucker of ?
I have seen it many times. I have also seen a leaf have say 4 babies and they all look different. Like my Rob's Slap Happy I think 3,4 babies I forget now. lol All from same leaves . Only one has the deep pink / mauve color Kenton like the others have no pink barely any variegation at all. Their all babies so they have not bloomed yes but they don't look like the same plant let alone grown by the same leaf !
Your Mom plant flowers look more like Semidouble-double , so does Jill noid. Your baby looks more Single like the Russian plant . And Optimara Chagall also a semidouble-double flower.
Russian single with star.
In FC many times there are two pictures and both look different as enviroment plays a big role , camera, and light . But some look totaly different. but yet their the same plant fit the description or FC would not allow their picture in there I would think ?
Here is the other picture.
Oh PS I love them all :))

Optimara Chagall (8945) 01/31/2001 (Holtkamp) Single-semidouble white/variable dark blue patches. Medium green, plain, glossy, hairy, scalloped/red back. Standard

Oh I have this trailer I got from Bluebirds. It was a substitute for a trailer I ordered they did not have. It was very large when I got it. With the most beautiful dark evergreen foliage soft leaves almost looking like a Species. Libbie said it's name is Tulsa Trail and has deep burgundy flowers . She bought it at a show and got home fount out it was not registered.
The foliage was so pretty I gave many , many leaves away, Then I separated it into smaller babies. I sent some out not sure if anyone's lived ?
My plant the foliage turned as deep varigation with lots of pink. The leaves became more shiny. The whole plant was so variegated loads of pink as darken a little with heat but still good variegation. Before it the foliage did not look like this at all.
Now if it would just bloom !
Sometimes I wonder should I take it down to one crown is it really supose to be a trailer /
You know Chimera, Chimera foliage plants are all mutants/sports. Rob's Chimera foliage plants are just Sports of his other plants !
It's all so fascinating and interesting to me.
Watch my plants foliage totaly change. I have had leaves I put down the babies come up with good variegation when Mom did not but FC said it is supost to have variegation.
But this was not leaves down, nor supose to be variegated to the best of my knowledge the plants just changed. Just like Rob's did his plants some were not even variegated and sported to Chimera foliage now selling for a lot of money !

Morning Allison,

That is really weird! I mean I really love them both and I actually prefer the sport version of the noid because of the foilage.

The Optimara Chagall is very pretty too.

I love Chimera's too!

Has anyone tried the Petrocosmea's yet?

Thanks for sharing all your wisdom Allison, I really do appreciate it.

Joanne

I have no Petrocosmea's but maybe someday ! I think Laurie and Anita have ordered some Special ones they may have by Summer to show us :)) Wink WInk
Lorry do you have any ?

Silver Spring, MD

I really love Raspberry Rampage. The variegation is now showing a pink, cream and white in the leaves. The blooms are large and very eye catching. I also have Powder Keg which is similar in coloring but has semi double to double blooms and the leaves are dark green/red backed, quilted to some extent and a little crinkled. I will post when the blossoms open more.

The noid star is also very eye catching especially when in full bloom.

It never ceased to amaze me how beautiful nature is, especially flowers of all types. To me, they are breathtaking.

Orkid, I ordered petrocosmea from Lyndon Lyons. But they don't even ship until May so it will be a while. I was going to order from Pat's Pets, but their web site is kind of a pain to sift through. Robs also sells a few.

I just went back and looked at Ma's Dubtaune and I cant get over the size of that one. SO BIG! can't wait until I have one that big Nanna. You've clearly got the 'touch'.

Also, on the 4 little indians, did they come with names?

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Oooohhh, I wish my Raspberry Rampage would bloom! It's just not thriving. I keep trying different things, and it's looking better.... It has put up a couple of bloom stalks, but then the buds dried up.

Good morning to you too, Joann! I love your blue & white Noid... that's a better photo than mine! The contrast between the blue & white didn't show up well enough in my picture... Yours looks just like mine, I think! That difference in foliage between your mom & baby plants is interesting... maybe it's just an age thing? They're both lovely!

You know, Nanna posted recently to ask why some of us were getting blooms on little, new plants when she wasn't.... Well, I keep wondering how she manages to have such ever-blooming big plants! :-) She does indeed have "the touch!"

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

Joanne - how healthy you plant looks!!! What a pretty bloom too!!

Jill - I have the same problem with my Bob Serbin..it's growing fine, but the bloom stalks keep drying up???

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

When blooms stalks dry up and don't open most likely the problem could be

One not enough Humidity, Fertilizer, Calcium Deficiency, Potting soil the Ph is off balence, Watering not enough plant too dry, and last Cyclamen Mites.
Do the plants have any other symptoms ?

Silver Spring, MD

The optimara little indian plants came with names. I ordered from selective gardner 4 mini plants in self watering pots. Their choice but with names.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

I know if you order some and let them know which ones you have so they won't double up on you !

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

No other symptoms on mine - perhaps the soil is more on the drier side. I don't think that particular self-watering planter is doing it's job. I'll try replanting it.

Silver Spring, MD

I discovered that some of my self watering devices were not working today. For some readon the capilary action was stopped. I changed the yarn and things are doing fine now. I did notice on the ones that failed the root system had formed a shell-like coating around the root ball. Has anyone experienced this before?

Leaves going down I don't think it has anything to do with Russian just the type of foliage and may need some suppot. I don't think mine are doing it right now ?

Silver Spring, MD

I think you are right. Some plants just naturally do it.

Beautiful AV's Nanna!
