Daylily seedlings

Porterfield, WI(Zone 4b)

I usually wintersow my daylily seedlings, but I just needed to see something green so I decided to get some started in the house. Now, are they large enough to be repotted, and would I go to the 4" individuals, or into the 6-pack plugs ?? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, Legit

As fast as they grow, I would go with 4 inch. That is what I just put mine in.

Thanks, I guess I will be taking advice here, and going with the 4".

Would you believe the darn cat trimmed some of them today?? I guess he was hungry for something green! Not seriously though, I don't think it will hurt them unless he goes back for more, I moved them up off the floor! Legit

it though daylilys were toxic.
however for your cat get some grass seed a grow in a pot for it.
it will help if that have furballs.

diggin, MMMM the bugger is still kickin'!!! I don't want to encourage him to chew on stuff in the house, he'll just have to wait till spring. He was chewing on some hay when I had him out to the barn last week, and I thought that was odd, but I guess it's just dried grass to him!!! Legit

ha, ha will i guess its not to toxic, although i think he might have furballs,
i think the grass helps them pass them.
I think dogs eat grass as will .
But arnt daylily toxic or is this a old wives tail

My guess would be that they are not, as he is doing fine, and I have had them eaten off by deer as well early in the spring! Legit

Can anyone provide a link for seed identification on Coreopsis Sweet Dreams? I can't seem to differentiate seed from chaff on them. Anyone know whether this plant propagates true from seed?
Thanks,

ddensmore,

This site shows coreopsis, I have grown them from seed, and I would imagine most varieties look similar, although I don't know if they would come true to a particular variety. If it is a hybrid, probably not. Hope this helps, Legit

what did you do to start your daylily seed ,i have some and not sure what to do with them,i have them chilling now what do i do after that?

I just put them in a regular potting soil, a light fluffy mix. I did not sterlize it with heat, though, and I should have, so don't do as I did, do as I say!! LOL I put them about 1/4 inch deep, and put on the kitchen table with a clear plastic bag over them. (To hold moisture) There is morning sun on the kitchen table for heat, and a baseboad heater below that does not get very hot. You want them warm, but not baking, and afternoon sun could do that, so be careful of direct sunlight. It took about 3 weeks for them to come up, so don't be impatient. ( I was digging in the soil with a toothpick every few days, and finally they came!) I have grown them before, but usually winter sow them, but I just couldn't wait to see green plants!!

Good Luck, let us all know how you do!!
