I suspect this is some sort of caryopteris hybrid. Caryopteris usually reseed in areas to their liking. Chances are that the offspring won't come out identical to the original. If you want to take cuttings then here is the procedure: Take 3 inch softwood cuttings early in the season before the flower buds are formed. Dip them in hormone and stick them in a sterile medium with bottom heat. You need to lightly cover the top of container to to hold in the humidty. If all goes well you should have roots formed within 7 - 10 day period. Frankford

Hi Frankford,
Thanks so much for your helpful information. Looks like I will have to wait until Spring before I take some cuttins. Will have to get the heat pad out of storage and get it set up. I will print off the details above and keep it for future referens.
Cheers.

Well, I am really encoraged by knowing that if it will root in the place where you want it and that if it will do that in Canada surely if will do the same for me in New Zealand. Thanks for the tip about not leaving it to dry out.

yes ferrymead
i bet the zone there must be so nice, your seasons are diferent as will your summer is your winter right.
but not like our winter you dont get snow ,what i wouldnt give to live there, how lucky you are.
I do alot of diferent cuttings that way just cut them off and stick them in the grown and and away to go.
the only thing i cant seem to grow that way is a shrub call snowdrift
but i keep trying, good luck with yours hope thay grow for you.
