Lali, I'm sorry to read that your DH is up against a little medical glitch there... hoping it is a very minor setback and that both of you have been able to set your mind at ease and get a good night's rest tonight!

Thanks Critter! I'm sure it's just a hiccup and he'll be fine. This cold has been kicking everyone in the rump! Eveyone has it for over three weeks! We've had it about a month - my daughter has escaped, but I finally went on antibiotics on monday last.

Critter, the blooms in person are just amazing on Silver Wings. What if it jumped in my suitcase? kidding!
I'm making room in my carry on for Precious! SO good to get a dog fix! I needed it! And Little Miss Precious Joy is a cutie pie too!

Laurie..hope your husband improving..and you are right..this time of year..the colds and all invade us all...and here in Florida we have lots of it going around...those "hand wipes" can help us..but still lots of folks coughing....glad he's getting good care...prayers to you all...

Laurie, I hope your husband is feeling better. Is he immunosupressed due to treatments or this is just some bug he picked up? Either way, I'm sure he will start to feel better once the antibiotics kick in.

Laurie left for Miami around 2 PM. gosh I miss her. We all loved her. She's the nicest person . We got a few pictures today . Laurie helped package all her plants and two other people's boxes all to be shipped out tomorrow !

Gosh, you guys are so AV nuts esp you Violet_Treasure! LOL. Look at all of those in Lali's pictures. You are so lucky they are such small plants. Such pretties!

I got some plants and leaves from Laurie. And packed up we did at least 35 plants plus leaves for Laurie :) They were trade boxes but she still insited on giving me money to ship them to her. She is the kindness girl. And she helped me package plants for a couple other people too !
She left around 2 PM and I miss her. It was a wonderful two days spent ! She took a couple more pictures maybe she will post !

I had to come back and look again at all the growing racks. I am getting such a kick out of them. How many AVs would you say you have?

I bought my 3rd AV the other day and if I show my DH your collection, he will toss my 3 in the garbage for sure before they multiply. LOL

I have 2 growing racks myself of brug seedlings, he will not stand for anymore. Again, you guys are so lucky you are obsessed with plants that are so small. Brugs get to be 8ft tall.

I hope Lali has more pics, I best live my AV life vacariously! LOL

HI Allison...so glad that you and Laurie had the wonderful 2 days together...the both of you are such loving persons (as is everyone here) and i know it was just the happiest occasion....and that gives us all joy...
...time goes so fast...it is hard to realize that tomorrow is Wed already and our weekend will be here before we know it...and the temps will be in the upper 80's....almost 90...hard to believe...
...Hope both you and Laurie get some good rest...she should be home soon..

Laurie fly's home Tomorrow around 2 PM
Tonight she says she might not be able to sleep she has lot's of plants to pack ( Begonias) mostly from Show. I would have loved to ship them for her but she's bringing the on the plane. Amazing !
I do have boxes of trade plants going out to her tomorrow ! She will be a busy girl.
Kell I don't really have many plants. I'm just addicted and love the joy of growing African violets by leaf. The joy of each new baby is amazing ! I also like sharing the joy . Not much room and people like Lorry and Laurie keep sending me more leaves I keep growing more babies. About 60 plants were packed today by us and still not an extra space for all the new babies need transplanting.
Hope my pots come I've never ran out before and I am out . Hundreds are on their way :))
Everyone should have the wonderous experince of growing by leaf and the joy of sharing. This also helps keep special varities alive. I pass along lots of Vintage, rare, Russian, Swedish, and more plants along in hope people will grow babies from them and also share !

It has been great reading this thread and keeping up with with your visit. Wish we all could have been with you. Allison, your handle is perfect. You are our treasure.

It was ! I wish it could be longer two days went so fast. I missed Laurie as soon as she left. She should be calling from Miami soon to let me know she arrived safe ! I think she bought like 80 new plants. And bunches of African violets. And she even bought a couple African violets at Home Depot ! And today she went to Ace Hardware and a couple ferns jumped in her wagon . Can you believe it. ! She gave me two cutie pie Begonias in bloom ! Many cuttings of Begonias, I took two sucker plants well not really even suckers they have roots from her Winnie the Pooh
and more ! It was wonderful !

allison..omgosh...laurie got ferns?...i throw them aways by the garbage cans full....certainly can share the ferns if anyone wants them...

I'm pretty sure that's what she bought on way over at Ace Hardware this morning.
She made it to Miamia safe. She is going to be packing plants and said she may not be on line for a few days. When she gets home she'll be unpacking :))

Laurie said we might not hear from her for a few days. She was going to be taking her plants on the plant and was going to be up all night packing :)). She fly's off today about 2 pm. When she gets home to her sick family :(( she has boxes of plants she all ready shipped home to tend to , and plants flying with her have been taken out of the pots and dirts and packed compact will need planting up. And we packed about 35 of my plants as trade plants to her 4 larger Priority boxes will be at her home Friday :))
She took a few more cute pictures yesterday and said they'd proably get posted Thursday and be back with us then :))
I don't think she can stay away this long !

Everything is beautiful as usual Allison. Haven't had much time to check in on the forum as I've been putting in about 20 hrs overtime every week to help get that new roof on the house. Glad you two had such a great time.

I bet she will be and probably is exhausted! Plant obsessing is tiring business. LOL. Sounds like you guys did a lot of work too as well as having a great time while doing it. I will tattle on her and tell you while she was in Florida, she was setting up a couple of plant show dates with me here. LOL. She is incorrigible. Also Ms. Energy i tseems!!

That is another of my HD specials, Violet Treasure. You can't go wrong for $2.99. I just love variegated plants. I am very pleased with it and will give it a spray of VF-11 tomorrow to get it going. I have a friend who had the biggest AV by her kitchen sink. I am hoping to grow one like that if I am good and do not forget it.

Well speaking of exhausted, time for bed. I was researching clematis to go with my new roses ans lost track of time.

I think this will be my only post today. First thing, update on DH. His distress over this Globulin proceedure was not really necessary. It seems that people with his kind of Leukemia do not produce this part of the blood (a protein that finds the germs causing us to be sick and act like a tattle-tale for our white cells to come find them and destroy them so we can get well). A good way of putting it is that his 'tank' is low and he needs to get 'topped off' - that way he can get over this chest cold before it turns into nasty pneumonia (which he's prone to)

It's not as horriffic as he made me think, and of course when you have cancer, you DONT want to hear that it's progressing, which his is not, at least not any faster than is has been. SO to all of you who dmailed me privately with prayers, and those who posted here I THANK YOU! So powerful!!

Now, on to Ms. Allison, my sweetheart. Lovely lady. I was honored to be a guest in yours and Roberts home for the two days, it was a pure pleasure to sit and chat and wrap pots for shipping ( doh, I didn't get any pictures of us wrapping, but now I know how and I'll start a tuturoial some day - if I can ever find my way home)

Great to see a master at work. Her set up is to be envied and I could drool for ever on all the cutie pie babies.

Precious changed her mind at the last second about coming home with me. But don't worry Precious, dogs can fly on airplanes too and you can just come out for a visit any ol' time you want to! (pssst. secret just between you and me Little Miss Precuous Joy, your mom and dad probably wont let you come spend the night with me. But that's ok, I'll call you some time!)

Allison, sorry I tuckered you out like that, but boy for me, it was so worth the time and effort do come over to your town! I loved every minute and will cherish our time always!

If you all dont hear from me for a bit, don't worry, I'll check in when I arrive back in Cali, but wont have too much time to post as I have a lot of plants to repot (I have removed all the soil and everyone is wrapped in plastic and newspaper) - and Sweetie pie sent me a few boxes (like 30 AV's!!! oh my goodness) of AV's too so I'll have those to unpack and I already sent home two boxes of plants that DH was sweet enough to let out of the box but they need repotting too.


If I don't get off the computer I'll miss my flight. Have a suitcase to pack and I did get all my plants packed (mostly) I'll have to juggle a few on my lap, but oh well.

Well i finsihed your fourth box the tray that was in the garden room and also Crystal Dawn ! So I'm sure we made 35 plants up ! You'll be busy unwrapping and caring for them too.
Today I am going to put down all the leaves you gave me from Av's and all the unbelieveable Begonia cuttings ! Thank you ever so much, And the case of two oz. cups you brought me I will be using them right p !
