Visiting with Allison! and Precious!! and Robert!

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

Let me start with a THANK YOU! Ali thank you so much for having me over for a visit! What a wonderful gal you are! As nice or nicer in person than on the forum. I could stay and talk violets and their kin ALL DAY again for a month! Wish I had a few more days to stay and repot, separate, pack etc.

Loved meeting your sweetheart of a husband - you are so fortuneate -

Loved seeing all the babies and beautiful leaves with babies and the beautiful moms with flowers and the beautiful pottery and cups with babies and
THAT DOG! (who's secretly told me she wants to stow away in my carry on bag and come home with me - kidding Ali, she's clearly yours and Robert's baby!)
She better have that pink hat on later on!

Here's a few photos.
First one is a group shot.

Now, from the photos Ali posted, this one was a beauty for sure. BUT in person, it stopped me dead in my tracks! to say stunning would be an understatement. It is an amazing AV. Here's another shot of her, even though Ali posted a nice on in an earlier thread.

no THANK you! Silly. I love a good adventure, and who would say no to driving to see an AV guru!?

I drove along the water this evening and saw some stunning homes. Guess I'll have to come back with a big bag of moolah and buy one so I can grow av's with you. Now, just need to find a big bag of money... hmmm..

may have been a Daves problem earlier Ali, my Black Ace above wouldn't load for the longest time I finally gave up, but it looks like it went through. Musts have crashed their server with all my photos.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Lorretta Laurie brought me the cuttiest , prettiest Begonia in bloom. Her name is Butterfly ! I love her !
And she gave me leaves of all the Av's she bought !
SHe had sent me a hug box of Begonias, Av leaves, Strep and Chirita leaves and more while back few weeks ? I know no time. for trade. So I have lot's of plants for her and tomorrow she is going to pack them HEHE and my hubby will ship them next day !
Thanks Lauri , Laurie sure takes good pictures ! I asked her to leaves my mess and dirt out of the pictures . lol

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

Oh wow, I think I'm in love with Snow Leopoard (Russian variety) SO beautiful!

Also in the group photo link I posted like three pictures in the past few years I have changed so much. I use to look like Laurie's sister so thin and active :))
Please post your pictures there Janet !
And everyone else who has not.

Ali, DH called back and his blood counts are way out of whack, oncologist wants to do some kind of globbulin therapy immediately. Changed him to a new, heavier duty antibiotic, and his white count is over 200K which was to be expected but still scares me. Wish I could have listened in on the appointment to understand what the Doc meant. going to have to google 'globbulin' (sp?)

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Oh sorry Laurie I'm so sorry . I will be praying for him and you and your family. Is your son OK ? How is your husband taking it ? What an aweful time to be away from them :((

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Janet here is the link to post your smiles . I have posted like three pictures. lol
Everyone if you have not please post your pictures here, share your smiles !

Here's what I found, looks like a harmless enough step.

Globulin: Globulin helps to combat infection on a normal level. It is the total protein value minus albumin value.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Laurie I did not want to go crazy on Russians until I saw if they grew well for me. Well I have 5-6 of them and they progate with ease, and mom plants grow all their leaves back super fast. Gorgjous old fashion type blossoms. I really don't how old they are but I know one of the main hybridizers had died. I sent lots of people some Russian plants hope you all enjoy them and can grow more to share. Their exoensive for a leaf and more so for a plant but if we put leaves down we can all share bunches of them !

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

his globulin count was 300 and needs to be in the 700 range to be within normal (which varies a bit from lab to lab) but it looks like this will just 'boost' his ability to get over this bug and chest cold before it develops into something worse.

He's nervous. Hoping his 'remission' like status hasn't begun to change. I told him he needs to supplement with improving his diet for a bit and putting in only the best he can (i.e. lay off any junk food and sugar, drink a lot more water and such)

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

OH Gosh Laurie sorry. I have the hardest time getting Robert to drink water. I love water and use to drink gallons a day. I can't drink it anymore I choke on it and it won't go down or stay down. Yet I can still drink boost, coffee, soda.
Is your son feeling better ? Can your daughter help care for them ?

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

my son is feeling a bit better. I spoke with him and he is fine with the tylenol. My best friend is over taking care of my family for now. (plants included!)

I think his counts will normalize when he's off all these antibiotics and taking a bit better care of himself.
