Hello,

Did some google and found it under B&T World Seeds and as I can see after searching their catalog its the name of that particular varity of I.Pupurea. Sadly I didnt find any pictures.

Hello Dietmar(!),

I have not yet seen what the 'Seta' offered by B&T world seeds actually is,but will be interested to see it...B&T offers a wide selection of seeds, but they are notorious for using incorrect botanical names for a considerable portion of their stock...

The listings of Convolvulacea that they are currently offering that have the incorrect botanical name are the following, along with the annotation of what the offerring actualy is...

Ipomoea Zeeland Hybrids Mix - this is actually an Ipomoea purpurea mix
Ipomoea heterophylla - " " Merremia dissecta
Ipomoea hirsuta -" " Ipomoea hederacea
Ipomoea nil Grandpa Ott -" " Ipomoea purpurea
Ipomoea nil Milky Way - " " Ipomoea purpurea
Ipomoea tricolor Cameo Elegance - " " Ipomoea nil
Ipomoea tricolor Crimson Rambler - " " Ipomoea purpurea
Ipomoea tricolor Early Call Dwarf Mixed -" " Ipomoea nil
Ipomoea tricolor Imperial Mix -" " Ipomoea purpurea
Ipomoea tricolor Ismay - " " Ipomoea purpurea
Ipomoea tricolor Mix - " " Ipomoea nil,Ipomoea purpurea or Ipomoea tricolor, seems they supply any that are in stock
Mirabilis jalapa - not in Convolvulaceae
Vigna sp - not in Convolvulaceae

Hope the 'Seta' turns out to be something nice...

TTY,...

Ron

OMG Ron, how can a wholesaler do so many wrongs, No wonder there is so much confusion when we in the end of this chain trying to "tell" and share with what we got. I didnt research that site any further then the "Seta" glad I didnt trying to get all those different Ipomoeas into my head is a handfull and more without them being so "misslabeled"

The mislabeling can occur from a variety of reasons, but I just thought that I would share my experience of what they have that is not accurately labeled and what the product has actually turned out to be for me and other MG growers who have ordered these...

I've enjoyed many of the native types that B&T has offered over the years...

I'm glad that the companies like B&T are there to offer a very large selection of plants and "ya just gotta take the good with the bad' so to speak...

This is another story. I think that everybody who deals with plants knows this problem. The many wrong names and synonymous can already be confusing. Who does not know this? One is pleased about new seeds but later one notices that it is not a new plant anyway.
Who has fault for it?
Are it the botanists who rename plants again and again?
Are it seed dealers, who nothing know about these renamings?
Is the reason for it that every land names the varieties in the national language of its own?
I think it is a mixture of these reasons but there are still many more.

As soon as "Seta" flourishes, I will know more. Of course I let you know the result.

I, for one, am leery of B&T's titles for the crop of I. purpurea seeds this year. "Shiva" has turned out to be plain old "Milky Way"! If you'll note, all the new names are Indian in origin (as in the country), so I think it's just a renaming of varieties that have been around for ages. I'm sure that a lot of people are going to be duped by that, mostly those who don't know any better.

Stacey - Thanks for shedding some light on the 'secrets' that are 'hidden in the open'...

I got some Shiva seeds from Livingston, and they are a mix of I purpurea and i tri color seeds.... I"ll attach a pic. They are all light in color.

Crazy seed companies!

They're not even the right color, to boot! You've got some kind of light colored flowers, but as to exactly what color, I guess that'll be your bonus.

The life is full of surprises! However, it does not always have to be a negative surprise. For example look at the "ebay surprise" from Joseph (Gerris2). Is it not a blue beauty?
Perhaps "Seta" is a positive surprise, too. I will see.
