If you were going to adopt from a shelter (humane society, ASPCA, a "no-kill organization", etc), what sort of requirements would you expect? I've looked at quite a few shelter-search websites (including petfinder.com), and I'm amazed at all of the requirements. I think I'll just ask the question, see if anybody answers, and then I'll type out a compilation of some of the "requirements to adopt" that I saw. Shelters wonder why they can't adopt out, and now I see why.
