I had to look up your lily. I had never heard of it before. It looks like it has nice big blooms and the bloom color coordinates well with the agastache. White shasta daisies might work. I have a couple of belladonna which have never bloomed, but they have nice healthy foliage. I kept the container in the greenhouse this winter which was probably a big mistake ... have to wait and see if they bloom. I also kept my containered amaryllis in the greenhouse. They retained their foliage and only one bloomed which was a big disappointment. They will all stay outside this coming winter.
are the non-blue agastaches tricky in texas?
debbie i have white ruellia malacosperma and white tiger lilies that are blooming now if you would like either of those for your agastache.
Uh sorry lost the thread for a couple of days. Is my soil sandy? Well let's just say they don't call our soil Gumbo for nothing. The area that I planted them gets afternoon shade and the soil has been amended so it's probably a bit better than most, better drainage. I also have some taller shrubs around. Last year I had one in same sort of area, afternoon shade and it did very well- I dug it up and moved it mid summer it survived so I thought I'd try it again, apparently I was asking too much. These will stay put and I don't think the weather to come will be too hard on them.
it looks like it kind of sprawls. i have the blue fortune and it seems more upright. can you comment deb?
yes--sprawl would be a good description...but it also stands upright to about 18-24". sprawl, but not hug the ground.
I have a young Blue Fortune and I love the upright shape it has. I hope it keeps it as it matures and not do a lot of sprawling. i wonder if pinching it back would help if it starts to sprawl?
well this is the first year i have had this one. it is about 24 inches tall and it is still upright with no hint of a sprawl. do hummers like the blue ones? and deb do you see hummers on the one you have?
yes they like it
