Websites for seed germination info

Duvall, WA(Zone 7b)

The Ontario Rock Gardening Soc. is the best that I've found as far as listing specifc species and their germination requirements. They even lsit if GA3 is beneficial. What sites do you use?

I like this one too and it has lots of photos of seedlings, which helps me out.

And I use Clothier's site a LOT.

And here's a little summary of bio chemical seed germination tips that might be useful

tabasco , thank you , both sites are great .

Excellent sites and entertaining as well. I don't think I'll be burying a cow skull anytime soon. The UK seedsite has been bookmarked for a couple of years.

I'll have to read the Tomatoe seed starting article again. I didn't quite get why she said transplanting was necessary.

Thanks to both of you.

Anything a person needs to know about germination on the site. It is a free site but they ask for donations.

Whoops! That link is to your hard drive. I can't get there from here. LOL

Texas Lou-- are you referring to the Thompson & Morgan 'Germination Database'?

If so, here is another site that posts it FYI

tabasco,
Thanks for posting the T&M link. It wasn't anywhere on the file I kept so I linked to one of the ads on the page that looks promising for detailed info.

Are we permitted to print any parts of the 'out of print' file but not the entire thing? Would they mail a copy if it was prepaid?

I don't know. Perchance print it, and see if anyone objects...

The 'Germination Database' has been copied onto many websites and is in general circulation.

Hey TexasLou,

I went to the site and did a search on Crocosmia Lucifer. It was found, but it had no propagation info. Is there somewhere else on the site where they have propagation info?

Thanks,
jb

juniorballoon,

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ned=us&q=Crocosmia+Lucifer&btnmeta%3Dsearch%3Dsearch=Search+the+Web

The above is a google search for the item. It turned up 48,000 places and the first one looked like the information that you need.

Google is a great tool. I was looking for that info on the site you posted. I did some looking around and found it. It is the Thompson List. I exported it into an excel spreadsheet which makes it easier to read. What a great source.

Thanks,
jb
