Posting rose pics

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I have a current interest in Palace Roses hybridized by Poulsen and have been taking pictures of them. Is there a way I can search just the Rose files by hybridizer? I am trying to figure out a fast way to search if any are already listed.

Or can I search by type, like Miniature?

I wonder if it would be best to post them all under the name Palace Roses /Poulsen or if it is preferable to do so under each individual name.

THANKS

kell, we're working to add hybridizer to PlantFiles roses - but there are a lot of entries to go through.

Here's a search of plants with "rose" in the common name and "Poulsen" in the hybridizer field (since there are also some Clematis attributed to them): http://davesgarden.com/pf/adv_search.php?searcher%5Bcommon%5D=rose&searcher%5Bfamily%5D=&searcher%5Bgenus%5D=&searcher%5Bspecies%5D=&searcher%5Bcultivar%5D=&searcher%5Bhybridizer%5D=poulsen&search_prefs%5Bsort_by%5D=rating&images_prefs=both&Search=Search

There are two ways to search for miniature roses.

The first one (probably the easiest) is to plug "Miniature Rose" into the common name field (I sorted this by cultivar name): http://davesgarden.com/pf/adv_search.php?searcher%5Bcommon%5D=Miniature+Rose&searcher%5Bfamily%5D=&searcher%5Bgenus%5D=&searcher%5Bspecies%5D=&searcher%5Bcultivar%5D=&searcher%5Bhybridizer%5D=&search_prefs%5Bsort_by%5D=cultivar&images_prefs=both&Search=Search

The second way involves the Advanced Search, which allows you to select characteristics to search by.

1) Click on the Advanced Search link from the PlantFiles home page: http://davesgarden.com/pf/advanced.php
2) Limit your search to Roses: http://davesgarden.com/pf/advanced.php?sname=Roses
3) Select "Miniature" as the class: http://davesgarden.com/pf/advanced.php?nn%5B70%5D=13&nn%5B1%5D=0&nn%5B2%5D=0&nn%5B3%5D=0&nn%5B56%5D=0&nn%5B57%5D=0&nn%5B42%5D=0&nn%5B7%5D=0&nn%5B58%5D=0&nn%5B59%5D=0&nn%5B60%5D=0&nn%5B61%5D=0&nn%5B23%5D=0&nn%5B10%5D=0&sname=Roses&Search.x=35&Search.y=16

Just great Terry, I will have to check out your links tonight.

THANKS

Poulsen has names for his different series of roses. He has some called Palace Roses and others called Patio Hits, Parade and Party. I am unclear how he places them under the different categories but they are all miniature roses.

Where in the form of Plantfiles would I put the series name of Palace, Patio Hits etc?

THANKS again.

Sorry, I skipped over that part of your question ;o)

Each variety gets its own entry - we typically include a note such as "(Patio Hits series)" in the "additional cultivar info" field.

Great well maybe not great. More work. LOL

All these roses are between 16 and 24 inches but I do not know exactly where each individual rose falls in that. They may all be capable of each end of the spectrum, I am unsure. Should I just put the range in and as I learn more correct them or just leave them blank?

Thanks

Our ranges will accomodate that variance in height (I think ours are 12-18" and 18-24") I'd say go ahead and plug in what you know about each plant and skip over checkbox sections you're not sure of.

Thanks
